Join now >The Dolphins are releasing tight end Gavin Escobar.
The 27-year-old was trying to make the roster as tight end depth, but he will now be a free agent. While Escobar hasn’t caught a pass since 2016 with the Cowboys, he should get another opportunity this season. Second-round pick Mike Gesicki is locked-in as Miami’s starting tight end.

Ben Roethlisberger says his arm feels stronger than ever.
New Steelers offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner recently said he believes this has been Roethlisberger’s best training camp ever, and now Roethlisberger continues to say how great he’s feeling heading into the season. Roethlisberger says his whole body feels great in general and that his “arm feels strong than it ever has.” Despite talk of retirement in recent years, Roethlisberger is seemingly been re-energized this year at 36 years old. Big Ben was one of the league’s hottest quarterbacks down the stretch last season, and he’ll be a strong fantasy option in 2018 with one of the league’s best supporting casts around him.

Nelson Agholor (lower body injury) returned to Eagles practice.
Agholor will be ready for go for the season opener on September 6 against the Falcons after missing the last few weeks of practice with an undisclosed lower body injury. The missed time isn’t a huge concern, as Agholor is going to be a clear top-two receiver for Philadelphia. He could be the No. 1 wide receiver to start the season if Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) isn’t ready. Based on his talent, while also playing in one of the league’s best offenses, Agholor is a highly-reccomended fantasy selection at his double-digit-round ADP.

Marcus Mariota has looked faster this summer, according to the team’s official site.
Writer Jim Wyatt said that Mariota won’t admit it, but he “has displayed an extra gear when he’s taken off” since dropping the knee brace he wore in 2017. The dual-threat quarterback believes it’s up to everyone else to decide, but he worked on getting faster in the offseason. We think Mariota should be in for a huge bounce-back season in a new offense that should allow him to take advantage of his unique skillset, and he should undoubtedly be drafted in the top 15 at the position (currently going as the QB18). However, it’s worth noting that after the season opener, Tennessee has a really tough stretch (v HOU, @ JAX, v PHI, @ BUF, v BAL, @ LAC) to start the year.

The Saints are releasing Brandon Tate, according to multiple reports.
Tate was thought to potentially be in-line for a role on special teams, but he isn’t making New Orleans’ initial 53-man roster. Perhaps the Saints will bring him back some point soon, though.

Eli Manning says Saquon Barkley is missing some “valuable time.”
The veteran quarterback said that while his connection with Odell Beckham Jr. makes it less hurtful for the star receiver missing preseason reps, Barkley is just a rookie. Barkley is going to have a big role this season, obviously, but there’s a possibility his reps are slightly limited to start the season if he doesn’t fully recover from his hamstring injury soon. Meanwhile, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur says he likes “the path he’s on” for Week 1. Barkley’s hamstring injury is described as minor, but he might not play in the team’s third preseason game this week.

Eric Decker has announced his retirement from the NFL.
Decker, who was trying to earn a roster spot in New England this summer, made the announcement on Instagram. He said in part: “I love football and always will. It will continue to be a part of my life.” Decker played eight seasons with the Broncos, Jets, and Titans, compiling 439 receptions for 5,816 yards and 53 touchdowns, including three seasons with 1,000+ yards and double-digit scores. He should have plenty of success in his post-playing career, and we wish him luck.
