The Titans head coach was asked about the distribution of carries between Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis, and he said: “I think it is important to try and find the right balance for each player. But keeping in mind what is best for the team, and what may be working. And maybe have a certain play in there that week for Dion, or a few certain players for Derrick. I think it is going to change week to week, like a lot of stuff that we do. And we’ll try and do everything that gives us a chance to win. So try and balance those snaps each week I don’t think it’s going to be really possible. One may end up with a few more snaps each week than the other.” Clearly, this is going to be a split backfield, and if one player is hot one week the team might ride the hot hand and feed them more carries. Both Henry and Lewis are likely to deliver solid fantasy value this season on what should be a good offense, but the upside of both is slightly capped as long as they both remain healthy. Henry being fed 20-25 carries per game this season, which looked like a possibility before Lewis was signed, is probably a stretch.

Jesse James has a back injury.
It’s a back contusion for James, but Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he isn’t sure of the severity. Starter Vance McDonald is already dealing with a toe issue that’s kept him out all summer, and Xavier Grimble has a wrist/thumb injury that’s kept him out, so the Steelers have an uncertain tight end situation heading into Week 1. James could be fine quickly, though, and McDonald is thought to be on track for the opener.

Trevone Boykin has been suspended for one game, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Boykin is being suspended for domestic assault allegations which caused the Seahawks to release him back in March. The former TCU star might have trouble getting back into the league because of his off-field issues.

Jeremy Hill says he’s fine after last night’s injury scare.
Hill was moving around well on the sideline after getting horse-collar tackled late in the fourth quarter. It looked like it might have been a serious injury, so this is great to hear. Hill and Mike Gillislee were the only Patriots to receiver carries in the game, as they could be battling for one roster spot in New England. Both Hill and Gillislee might play in the team’s fourth preseason game next week.

James Washington has moved up to second-team wide receiver for the Steelers.
The Steelers only list two starting receiver spots on their depth chart, which are occupied by Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, so the rookie Washington is right there as a potential number three receiver. Through two preseason games, Washington has had lines of 2/44 and 5/114/2, including a spectacular leaping catch in the end zone last week versus the Packers. Despite being a rookie, Washington is performing on the field and is the heavy favorite to open the year as a top-three receiver for Pittsburgh. Playing in one of the league’s best offenses with Ben Roethlisberger throwing him passes, he’s shaping up as a very good selection toward the end of 2018 fantasy drafts.

Marqise Lee suffers apparent lower leg injury in preseason game.
On a first-quarter reception over the middle against the Falcons, Lee took a shot to the knee and was in obvious immediate pain. Lee appeared to be holding his knee, and he remained down until the cart came out to take him off the field. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it looks, but this could be a serious injury for Jacksonville’s number one receiver. The Jaguars have a deep receiving group to overcome any potential long-term absence for Lee, but he was probably Blake Bortles’ most-trusted receiver. Lee just received a four-year, $34 million contract this offseason.

Adrian Peterson is signing with the Redskins, according to NFL Network.
After Derrius Guice’s season-ending knee injury and with both Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall week-to-week with ankle injuries, the future Hall of Famer Peterson has found a new team. Peterson is not a player we recommend betting against, so don’t count out the 33-year-old seizing the starting running back job in Washington and handling a sizable workload in 2018. We’ll see if Jay Gruden and the coaching staff sheds any light on how carries might be distributed this season, but AD probably offers the most upside of the group. Peterson is probably not worth selecting before the double-digit rounds in fantasy drafts, but Washington has a very good offensive line, so he could exceed expectations again. The Redskins now have the University of Oklahoma’s all-time leading rusher (Perine) and fourth all-time leading rusher (Peterson).
