Join now >Byron Marshall (ankle) is expected to miss two to four weeks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The MRI taken after last night’s injury showed no serious damage to Marshall’s leg, but he’s still apparently dealing with a sprain that will keep him out some time. Injuries are hitting the Redskins backfield hard, but they remain deep at that position with Samaje Perine (who is also dealing with an ankle injury), Rob Kelley, and Kapri Bibbs.

Leonard Fournette says the game is “a lot slower” for him this year.
The second-year back talked about getting a year under his belt, comparing it to being a freshman in college—the next season, things slow down after being used to the game speed. Fournette also says he’s “learned the system from top to bottom” and has made a lot of progress, “especially learning the blocking schemes and who I’ve got [to block].” T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant are going to get some work on third downs, but Fournette is clearly going to be Jacksonville’s workhorse in 2018. He’s a strong pick in the first or second round of fantasy drafts.

Josh Gordon announces he is returning to the Browns.
Gordon somewhat mysteriously stepped away from the team prior to training camp to basically make sure he was right mentally, and just as camp wraps up, the talented receiver is back. The time away might have been enough to put Gordon behind Jarvis Landry as Cleveland’s top fantasy option since he hasn’t been able to build chemistry with Tyrod Taylor and the other quarterbacks. That said, “Flash” has sky-high upside in the early-mid rounds of fantasy drafts, and those who already have him can probably breath a sigh of relief. Playing in the team’s third preseason game next week would be a slight boost to Gordon’s outlook.

Amara Darboh will not play in this week’s preseason game.
The second-year receiver did not play in either of Seattle’s first two preseason games as he deals with injuries (hip and clavicle). Despite being a third-round pick just last year, Darboh is on the roster bubble, and he might need to get on the field in the final preseason game to secure a roster spot. Darboh is not currently on the fantasy radar.

Bryce Treggs (hamstring) is expected to miss a few weeks.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero says it’s a hamstring strain for Treggs, who suffered the injury in last night’s preseason game against the Patriots. This puts a major dent in Treggs’ chances of making the final roster for the Eagles, especially with teammate Shelton Gibson stepping up this preseason.

Mike McCarthy says Jamaal Williams is “poised to have a big year.”
McCarthy was asked about Williams entering his second NFL season, and the Packers head coach said he thinks we’ll look back and say he was one of those players that made a second-year jump. McCarthy added that Williams is “so comfortable. So consistent…You can see the way he’s developed physically. I think he’s poised to have a big year.” The Packers have said they are going to use a committee backfield, and McCarthy has also given a lot of praise to Ty Montgomery; but it looks like Williams could be the lead runner this season. Williams is dealing with a mild ankle injury from last week’s preseason game, so hopefully he’s able to get out there tomorrow night against Oakland, which might give a clearer idea of the touch distribution in Green Bay.

A.J. McCarron has a hairline fracture in his collarbone, according to multiple reports.
Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News was the first to report the news, though the Bills did not confirm the extent of the injury; however, now multiple outlets are reporting McCarron did indeed fracture his collarbone. This is really tough to hear for McCarron, who was looking to win the starting quarterback job for the Bills after sitting behind Andy Dalton in Cincinnati for a few years. McCarron appeared to suffer the injury on a big hit from Browns defensive end Myles Garrett in the first quarter, and he actually continued playing through the injury until Josh Allen was inserted into the game. This suddenly turns into a two-man quarterback competition between Allen and second-year quarterback Nathan Peterman. Allen has played steady while showing major flashes through two preseason games, and we think the rookie is the favorite to open the season on September 9 against Baltimore. We’ll see who starts next week’s important third preseason game. McCarron is probably week-to-week.
