Join now >The Saints waived Devonta Freeman.
Freeman joined the Saints during the summer, and it was going to be an uphill climb for him to make the final roster. We’ll see, but this might mean that Latavius Murray, who was surprisingly looking like a potential roster bubble guy, made the roster.

The Cowboys are waiving Ben DiNucci.
Sorry about the Hard Knocks spoilers. DiNucci profiles as someone the Cowboys might want to bring back on the practice squad if DiNucci is interested.

The Lions are acquiring Trinity Benson.
Mike Klis reports that the Lions are sending the Broncos a fifth-round pick and seventh-round pick in 2022 for Benson and a sixth-round pick in 2023, so it’s a pretty good return for someone that might have been exposed to waivers as a roster cut. From a fantasy perspective, Benson is now someone to keep an eye on in a thin Detroit receiving corps.

The Eagles waived Jason Huntley.
Huntley landed with the Eagles during last season and showed some flashes of potential as a runner and returner, but he’s a cut on roster deadline day. The second-year running back should find a new landing spot soon; if not, the Eagles might bring him back on the practice squad.

The Broncos are waiving Seth Williams.
This is somewhat of a surprise, but the sixth-round rookie out of Auburn will be headed to waivers. We were high on Williams entering this year’s draft and saw him as a potential replacement for Courtland Sutton (entering a contract year). It’ll be interesting to see where he lands, though he might be brought back on the Broncos practice squad if he clears waivers.

The Broncos waived Kendall Hinton.
Hinton stepped up and stepped in at quarterback last season due to the team’s crazy COVID issues, but he didn’t make final cuts for the roster to open this season. Expect Hinton to land back on Denver’s practice squad if another team doesn’t claim him.

Trey Lance (finger) will miss about a week.
Lance has a chip in his finger, but it doesn’t sound like a huge deal and comes at a good time with two weeks until the regular season. The rookie should mix in with Jimmy Garoppolo against the Lions in Week 1.
