Join now >The Packers released Devin Funchess from injured reserve.
This isn’t a surprise after Funchess was recently placed on injured reserve, which would have ended his season if he remained there. The big receiver reportedly was having a strong training camp with Green Bay, and it’ll be interesting to see where he lands when he gets back to 100% now that he’s a free agent. Funchess sat out last season as a COVID-19 opt out.

Richie James Jr. (knee) will miss at least six weeks.
James is set to miss the first month or two of the season, and he’s off the redraft radar for now. Hopefully James is feeling like himself and can get back up to speed on the early part of his recovery timeline.

Jameis Winston will be named the Saints starting quarterback.
This is according to multiple reports (which might be speculating and reporting the obvious). Winston finally secured the starting job for New Orleans with a fantastic performance in the team’s second preseason game, and he gets the nod over Taysom Hill for Week 1 against the Packers. Hill will now slide into his role of a Swiss Army Knife that works in all over the formation on offense—including at quarterback—and on special teams, and that role might be increased some compared to when Drew Brees was at quarterback for the Saints. Winston’s natural aggressiveness blended with Sean Payton and the New Orleans offense makes for an intriguing combination, and remember that Winston had LASIK eye surgery to improve his vision after throwing 30 interceptions for the Buccaneers in 2019—perhaps it won’t make much of a difference, but we’d think improved eye sight is something to keep in mind.

The Seahawks have signed Ian Bunting.
The six-foot-seven tight end takes the roster spot vacated by Luke Willson, and he brings size similar to Colby Parkinson—who is currently recovering from a foot injury. Bunting will hope to impress over the next few days to crack Seattle’s 53-man roster.

The Bears released Javon Wims.
Wims fell out of favor a bit in Chicago last season, but the former Georgia Bulldog has the size to compete for a role on the outside for another team. We’ll see where Wims lands, but it’s probably unlikely that he makes much of a fantasy impact in 2021 at this point.

The Titans are singing Javian Hawkins.
Hawkins was recently waived by Atlanta, but the rookie is quickly getting another shot. Tennessee has Darrynton Evans and Brian Hill behind Derrick Henry, but we’ll see if Hawkins is able to impress enough over the next week to earn a roster spot.

Washington released Temarrick Hemingway.
Hemingway looked like he had a shot to be the No. 2 tight end for the Football Team earlier this training camp, but things can change quickly. The 2016 sixth-round pick from South Carolina State now falls victim to the numbers game in Washington, but he’s a big target that should land with a new squad soon.
