Join now >Chris Godwin is expected to start for the Buccaneers this season.
Bucs offensive coordinator Todd Monken says he sees the second-year receiver as a starter, and that he has “earned the right to be a starter”. Monken did add that it might not work out that way, but clearly he is very high on Godwin. As a rookie last season, Godwin caught 34 passes for 525 yards and one touchdown despite essentially being the team’s fourth receiver behind Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, and Adam Humphries. It’s unclear what this means for Jackson, but it’s possible Evans, Godwin, and Jackson all mix and match at three receiver spots by rotating in the slot; it’s also possible Jackson is cut if he doesn’t have enough chemistry with Jameis Winston this season and/or his work ethic is lacking, as Humphries has been a reliable target for Tampa Bay. Entering his second year in the NFL, Godwin has 1,000-yard upside if he is indeed a starter opposite Mike Evans. We’ve been saying how Godwin was an absolute steal in the third round of the NFL draft last year, and he should be on everyone’s radar as a potential fantasy steal leading up to drafts later this summer.

The Seahawks are signing wide receiver Keenan Reynolds, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Reynolds, who spent his first season in 2016 with the Ravens and last season on the Redskins practice squad, joins a good situation in Seattle. The Seahawks will likely give Reynolds a solid opportunity to crack the 53-man roster. Signing the high-character Reynolds is a move that matches much of what the Seahawks have done this offseason.

The Titans signed former Falcons wide receiver Nick Williams.
Williams is an undrafted free agent from 2013, and he spent the last three seasons in Atlanta with the Falcons. Williams had 17 receptions for 159 yards and two touchdowns in 2015, but he’s had only eight receptions for 89 yards over the last two seasons as he’s spent a lot of time on the practice squad. Williams will likely have to contribute on special teams to make the final roster for the Titans this season. He’s not a fantasy option at the moment.

49ers GM John Lynch hints at a big role for Jerick McKinnon.
Lynch was on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, and said McKinnon “never saw the field as much as he would’ve liked. He’ll fit extremely well in our offense. While he’s not the biggest guy in the world. He can play big. He’s a match-up nightmare.” McKinnon had 150 rushing attempts and 200+ touches in each of his last two seasons with the Vikings, but it certainly sounds like the Niners intend for him to have a bigger role than that. This basically confirms the thinking all along, as San Francisco paid McKinnon top-five running back money, so they are probably going to use him a lot in 2018. Some might be concerned about his ability to hold up with a heavy workload, but McKinnon will offer RB1 upside in fantasy drafts this summer.

Josh Rosen is already the Cardinals’ number two quarterback, according to NFL Network’s Steve Wyche.
The Cardinals signed Mike Glennon along with starter Sam Bradford this offseason, but the rookie Rosen has apparently passed Glennon for the backup spot in Arizona. Wyche says new Cardinals head coach Steve Wilks said Rosen “really impressed” and “had command of the huddle” during rookie camp. With the Cardinals taking a cautious approach with Bradford because of his knees, in an effort to have him 100% ready for Week 1, Rosen could get a good amount of reps with the starters leading up to the season. Some might believe Rosen will win the starting job, but Bradford is one of the best quarterbacks in the league when healthy, so it would be a surprise if the veteran wasn’t under-center to start the season if healthy. Rosen could potentially become a viable fantasy option if he does hit the field, though.

Patriots running backs coach Ivan Fears talks up Rex Burkhead.
According to MassLive, last week Fears said “this time last year, [Burkhead] started showing us what he could do. Once you get a chance to see it, you sort of build on it. Rex is something special. I like him.” This is pretty high praise for Burkhead, who battled a couple of injuries last season—one at the beginning of the season and one at the end of the season—but still had eight touchdowns in ten regular season games. However, the Patriots did add Jeremy Hill in free agency (who Fears says he really liked coming out of college), as well as former Georgia running back Sony Michel in the first round of the draft; however, New England did lose Dion Lewis (180 carries last season). The Patriots could go with a totally different offensive attack than what we’ve seen in recent years, but they certainly have a lot of running back talent on the depth chat. Aside from James White on third downs, there’s uncertainty about the roles in the backfield, which happens a lot with the Patriots. As of now, Burkhead appears to have a leg up on everyone else as the primary early-down back in 2018.

Christian Kirk was arrested two months before the NFL Draft, according to azcentral sports.
On February 3 at the Phoenix Open golf tournament, Kirk and some friends were apparently drunk and throwing rocks at cars. The Scottsdale police says at least one window of a car was broken, and Kirk was charged with criminal damage. The Cardinals say they knew about this incident before drafting Kirk, but perhaps this is part of the reason he dropped to the middle of the second round when he was thought to be a potential first-round selection. Kirk is otherwise known as a good guy that hasn’t been in any trouble, so hopefully it was just one stupid decision. It would be a bit of a surprise if Kirk was disciplined by the NFL for this, so it’s probably the last we’ll hear about it.
