Join now >The Broncos have selected SMU wide receiver Courtland Sutton with the No. 40 pick (second round) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Denver was looking for another weapon on the outside for new quarterback Case Keenum behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, and they’ve opted for the talented and productive former SMU receiver. Sutton averaged at least 16.0 yards per reception in each of his full college seasons, and he had 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdowns in each of the last two years. At 6’4″, Sutton gives the Broncos another big presence on the outside to go with Demaryius Thomas, and the three of Sutton, Thomas, and Sanders are all versatile enough to move around formations on offense. Sutton has a solid dynasty-league outlook, but he might struggle to make an immediate impact if he’s no better than third on the team for targets as a rookie.

Torrey Smith catches five passes in Super Bowl LII.
Smith was targeted nine times against the Patriots, catching five passes for 49 yards. Smith’s best play came on the first drive for the Eagles, as he made a nice leaping catch to convert a third-and-long on a drive that got the game started right for Philadelphia on offense and eventually ended with a touchdown. Next season, Smith’s role should probably decrease, with Nelson Agholor taking more time in two-receiver sets and rookie Mack Hollins potentially taking some more time. He’ll be a weekly boom-bust option in 2018.

The Packers have selected Notre Dame wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown with the 207th pick (sixth round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
St. Brown lasted a lot longer than expected, as he has 4.4 speed in a six-foot-five frame, but he isn’t very physical for his size, and many teams probably wished he stayed in school another year. However, in Green Bay, he will have a chance to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers and can potentially grow into a big-time role if he’s committed to being great. St. Brown is an interesting target in dynasty leagues.

The Rams officially exercised the fifth-year option on running back Todd Gurley.
This was an obvious decision for the Rams. Gurley has lived up to and exceeded the expectations placed on him when he was drafted tenth overall by the franchise in 2015. Picking up the option keeps Gurley under team control through the 2019 season, so they’ll have plenty of time to get a long-term deal done. For 2018, Gurley should again get a heavy workload and is an obvious top-five selection in fantasy drafts.

The Buccaneers have selected USC running back Ronald Jones II with the No. 38 pick (second round) in the 2018 NFL Draft.
This is an excellent landing spot for Jones, who ran for 1,550 years and 19 touchdowns during his junior season at USC last season, as he joins an offense that probably has the most wide-open running back depth chart in the NFL. Jones profiles as a dynamic back similar to a Jamaal Charles type that can handle a lot of touches on offense. He is also a capable receiver out of the backfield, which will help him remain on the field. Among the rookie running backs aside from Saquon Barkley, Jones might have the clearest path to a good amount of work in 2018. Jones is likely to be a solid mid-round pick in fantasy drafts this summer, but the backfield workloads in Tampa Bay will be something to watch leading up to the season.

Jarvis Landry is signing his franchise tag soon.
Signing the tag will give him a whopping $16 million guaranteed for 2018, which only Antonio Brown and DeAndre Hopkins make on an annual basis. This now paves the way for the Dolphins to trade Landry to another team, which appears inevitable at this point. And if he is indeed traded, he’ll have until the middle of July to negotiate a long-term contract with his new team. The Bears and Titans remain among the teams most heavily linked to Landry, though there could be a lot of smokescreens around at this time of year. some have speculated the Dolphins are waiting to trade Landry until trade day, with the intention of using him to move up the draft board to draft a quarterback.

The Jets have selected Virginia State running back Trenton Cannon with the 204th pick (sixth round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Cannon has 4.41 speed with great explosiveness, but he needs to add weight to his frame to be more than a change-of-pace option at the next level. That said, the Jets have no established starter in the backfield, and he might have just as much talent as anyone else on the roster. We would target him late in dynasty leagues, and owners in redraft leagues should keep him on their radar this summer.
