Join now >One outside doctor is concerned about Carson Wentz’s knee injury.
Dr. John Kelly, an orthopedic surgeon from NovaCare (which happens to be the sponsor for the Eagles’ training complex), believes Wentz will take at least nine months and potential up to 11 months to recover from the injury suffered in Week 13 against the Rams. Kelly is not working with Wentz and says he has no inside knowledge of the situation, so perhaps it should be taken with a grain of salt, but the doctor doesn’t have any reason to lie and says this is an RG3 or Tom Brady type of injury because he tore two additional ligaments in addition to the ACL. Brady’s injury suffered in September of 2007 was very serious, but he hit the rehab process hard and was able to recover quicker than doctors anticipated, but he doesn’t run around the way Wentz does. And we know RG3 struggled the next season and was never the same after trying to make sure he was back on the field in Week 1 of the season after his injury. Hopefully Wentz is one of those guys that can miraculously recover, but it’s certainly no lock he’s out there for Week 1 in 2018. Considering the strength of their roster and the fact that they don’t really have any holes, the Eagles would probably be foolish to trade Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles unless they get an offer that absolutely blows them away.

Andrew Luck has started throwing a football again.
Yesterday, Colts owner Jim Irsay said Luck has “turned the corner” in his rehab from his shoulder issue, and head coach Frank Reich just said at the NFL Annual League Meeting that his franchise quarterback has begun throwing. Now, Luck will need to build his arm strength and stamina back up for throwing footballs, but there has been a lot of optimism from everyone involved over the last few months. Hopefully we see Luck on the field for offseason training and the arm issues are put behind him for good.

Report: Kirk Cousins is “more likely than not” to play for the Broncos next season.
This is according to Eric Galko of Sporting News, as he was at Senior Bowl practices and “asked a lot of people” this week. Of course, we don’t think Galko spoke directly to Broncos general manager John Elway, so this could just be a lot of speculation by people from other teams. Galko also notes the Cardinals are in the mix, which makes sense after Carson Palmer retired. Ultimately, it looks like Cousins might hit free agency this offseason, and the Redskins would likely have a difficult time keeping him if he does.

The Titans signed quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
After releasing veteran Matt Cassel this offseason, the Titans have filled the backup role with the former Jaguars, 49ers, and Cardinals quarterback. Gabbert profiles more similarly to starter Marcus Mariota, and he’s shown good flashes over the last three years. Gabbert likely won’t be a highly-reccomended fantasy option in standard leagues even if he does hit the field in 2018.

Alshon Jeffery had surgery on a torn rotator cuff this morning, according to Ian Rapoport.
If you remember from the preseason, Jeffery dealt with the shoulder issue that forced him to miss a chunk of time, and it turns out the issue was a torn rotator cuff. Jeffery did have a relatively slow start for some parts of early in the season, and he might have had to adjust playing while dealing with the serious injury. The Pro Bowl receiver certainly didn’t show any affects while dealing with it during the playoff run and Super Bowl, though, and he was already handed a big contract during the season to remain with the Eagles. Looking ahead to next season, Jeffery should be 100% and has 1,000-yard and 10-touchdown upside after having a 57/789/9 line in 2017.

Terrance Williams is recovering from a broken foot that required surgery, according to ESPN’s Todd Archer.
Cowboys executive Stephen Jones says Williams may miss some time this offseason, but the team didn’t elaborate beyond that on the extent of the injury. However, a broken foot would indicate Williams is going to miss at least some offseason team training. This injury, along with the addition of former Jaguars receiver Allen Hurns, isn’t a great start to the offseason for Williams. The foot injury could cause him to fall behind if it lingers, and there’s a chance he isn’t any better than number three on the depth chart for 2018. Dallas’ wide receiver situation will be one to watch throughout the spring and summer.

The Saints have signed wide receiver Josh Huff to a futures contract.
The former Eagle and Buccaneer will have an opportunity tot try and carve out a role in New Orleans. Huff has playmaking ability with the ball in his hands, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he made the final roster in 2018.
