Join now >Rashaad Penny had a clean-up procedure on his knee.
This was done on the same knee he tore his ACL in during the 2019 season. Penny is not participating in mandatory minicamp, but hopefully he can get to a full-go early during training camp. Penny’s fifth-year option was declined earlier this offseason, but the hope is that the former first-round pick can stay healthy and form a strong duo with Chris Carson in 2021.

Matt Nagy says there is no scenario where Justin Fields would be the Week 1 starter over Andy Dalton.
Talking to Chris Collinsworth, Nagy was adamant: “Andy Dalton is our stater. Justin is our No. 2 and we are going to stick with this plan. You just got to trust the plan.” Chicago has stated since signing Dalton that he would be their starter, but the recent comments are the strongest yet with Fields now on the roster after being taken with the No. 11 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Plans can of course change, though the Bears seem to be wanting to take the developmental route with Fields, and Dalton will essentially be a one-year stopgap similar to Alex Smith in Kansas City a few years ago. We think this strategy is likely the best for Fields’ long-term outlook, but the rushing upside would make him a definite option to pick up off the waiver wire in redraft leagues if he ever sees the field as a rookie.

Zack Moss (ankle) is expected to be ready for training camp.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott says that Moss has done a great job rehabbing, but that he probably won’t be doing any drill work until training camp. This was expected, as Buffalo shouldn’t take things too fast with the second-year back after he was injured in the postseason and underwent ankle surgery. This summer, Moss will be competing for snaps in the Bills backfield along with Devin Singletary and Matt Breida.

Jamison Crowder has restructured his contract.
Talk was that the Jets wanted Crowder to take a big pay cut, and the veteran receiver will indeed remain in New York this season after a renegotiated deal. The Jets are now locked in with Crowder, Corey Davis, Denzel Mims, and rookie Elijah Moore as their top four receivers in 2021. From a fantasy perspective, the crowded receiving group makes things difficult. For now, expect Crowder to man the slot with Moore moving around the formation before potentially taking over the slot role next year after Crowder hits free agency.

The Eagles are signing Nick Mullens.
Mullens went 5-11 in 16 starts with the 49ers over the past three seasons, and he was likely waiting for the right landing spot by not signing until the middle of June. Philadelphia has typically kept three quarterbacks on the roster in recent years, so look for Mullens to slide in behind Jalen Hurts and Joe Flacco this fall. Notably, the 26-year-old is averaging 248.1 passing yards per game for his career.

The Eagles re-signed Richard Rodgers.
Rodgers has played well as a depth tight end for the Eagles, so this was a natural fit, even with a new coaching staff. From a fantasy perspective, Rodgers will likely need a Zach Ertz trade to find any redraft value before the season.

Jace Sternberger has been suspended two games for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
Sternberger will miss games against the Saints and Lions to begin the year, and this could ding his overall outlook as he hopes to carve out a role behind Robert Tonyan. Obviously, the entire offense of the Packers will be heavily reliant on whether or not Aaron Rodgers will be under center this fall.
