Join now >The 49ers waived Marqise Lee.
This is a surprise after Lee was recently signed. He’s been out of football for a couple of years due to injury and a COVID-19 opt-out, but another opportunity to win a roster spot with a team should come along soon.

The Texans officially signed Taywan Taylor.
The 2017 third-round pick of the Titans spent the past two years in Cleveland, but he played in just three games and ended last season on injured reserve. The good news for Taylor is that Houston added a bunch of players this offseason and is undoubtedly going to preach healthy competition. Taylor will look to win a big role on offense this summer.

The Patriots are signing Tyler Gaffney, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Gaffney was with New England from 2016 to 2018, and he most recently spend some time with the 49ers—after playing minor league baseball with the Pirates organization in 2018. The former Stanford standout is now 30, but we have to assume he’s in great shape and will hope to crack the roster at a suddenly crowded position for the Patriots.

The Texans are signing Jeff Driskel.
It wasn’t going to take long for Driskel to find a team given his ability to run around and make plays, but the Texans are a surprise landing spot. While Deshaun Watson’s status is obviously uncertain at best, Houston has a handful of quarterbacks on the roster, which is pretty interesting.

Parris Campbell (knee) says he is 100%.
Campbell, who is now sporting the No. 1 after making the switch following the NFL’s jersey number rule change, is entering his third season and looking to remain healthy and make a big impact. It’s a great sign that he can be full-go at this point in the offseason, and look for him to have a full training camp with new quarterback Carson Wentz this summer.

Antonio Brown had a clean-up procedure on his knee, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It was a minor surgery that has a recovery time of a few weeks, but it’s interesting that head coach Bruce Arians said that Brown’s contract will become official when he passes a physical. Assuming everything ends up OK (we expect it will), AB should be an upside target at wide receiver playing in the high-powered Tampa Bay offense again this season.

The Chargers claimed Austin Proehl.
Proehl previously spent time with the Rams, now he’s joining the other Los Angeles team as he looks to earn a roster spot this summer. The Chargers have a very deep receiving corps, so it will likely be an uphill climb for Proehl to make the final roster.
