Join now >Cam Akers (shoulder) has returned to the game.
Akers promptly handled a carry on his first play back, so he should be good the rest of the way. Look for him and Sony Michel to split snaps at running back.

Cam Akers (shoulder) is questionable to return.
Akers is being evaluated in the locker room, so the Rams will have to lean heavily on Sony Michel until if/when he returns. Even if Akers is able to return at less than 100%, the physical nature of the game could result in Michel leading the backfield the rest of the way.

Tyler Higbee (knee) is questionable to return.
Higbee is in the locker room and had to be assisted off the field, so his day would appear to be over. That said, not being ruled out or labeled as doubtful is hopefully a good sign, if only for a potential Super Bowl matchup in a couple of weeks.

C.J. Uzomah (knee) is out for the remainder of the game.
Uzomah was doubtful after leaving in the first half and came out on crutches to begin the second half. Fortunately, the early diagnosis is a sprained MCL, but an MRI will determine the full extent of the injury.

Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL, according to ESPN.
While rumors surrounding Brady’s playing status have swirled just about every offseason for the past handful of years, things felt more real this year, with the 44-year-old talking about his family’s needs and not giving an indication that he would return for the 2022 season. In 22 years in the NFL, the former sixth-round pick out of Michigan arguably became the greatest athlete in the history of sports. In 20 years with the Patriots, Brady and Bill Belichick led the greatest dynasty in NFL history, winning six Super Bowls together (Brady winning four Super Bowl MVPs and three NFL MVPs in that span). After joining the Buccaneers, Brady won his seventh and final Super Bowl (and Super Bowl MVP) in the first year with his new team in Tampa Bay, and he then led the league in yards and touchdowns in his 22nd and final season in 2021. Brady goes out with a playoff loss in the Divisional Round, but he and his team battled back from a 27-3 deficit to make it a game, which everyone had come to expect from a Tom Brady-led team. And Brady obviously has had nothing to prove to anyone, especially after winning a seventh championship with the Buccaneers, and he’s calling it a career. Overall, Brady has been to ten Super Bowls; he is the NFL’s all-time leader in wins (243, with just 73 losses), passing yards (84,520), and passing touchdowns (624). He also by far leads those categories (35 wins, 13,049 passing yards, 86 passing touchdowns) for the postseason. He has a record six game-winning drives in the Super Bowl, including in two of the best comebacks in history—and arguably the best in history in 28-3 against the Falcons in Super Bowl LI—versus the Seahawks and Falcons. Brady also led the 2007 Patriots to an undefeated regular season, the only one in the 16-game era. Unfortunately, we never knew this would in fact be Brady’s last go-around, but he clearly did not want a farewell tour and prefers to just step aside almost out of nowhere despite recent reports. But NFL fans were extremely fortunate to be able to watch Brady play at a high level for so many years. In addition to being arguably the greatest athlete in history, Brady is a class act and near-perfect example for the game of football. Brady has many other ventures, including his TB12 health and fitness brand and his new BRADY clothing brand. We thank the living legend for helping deliver so many entertaining games and moments over the years, and wish him the best of luck with his post-playing life—but we don’t think he needs it.

Ben Roethlisberger has announced his retirement from the NFL.
This was obviously expected following a legendary goodbye at Heinz Field in Week 17, and the two-time Super Bowl champion is officially hanging up his cleats after 18 seasons. Overall, Big Ben threw for 64,088 yards and 418 touchdowns through his career (ranking No. 5 and No. 8 all-time, respectively), and he never had a losing season with a 165-81-1 record in Pittsburgh. One of the most overlooked accomplishments of the 2004 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year was that he went 13-0 in his first season (14-1 including playoffs), and Roethlisberger was one of the best quarterbacks in history at orchestrating go-ahead drives late in the fourth quarter—including the game-winner to Santonio Holmes in Super Bowl XLIII. Both as a winner and in terms of the statistical success, Roethlisberger is well deserving of the final stop in Canton.
