Join now >The Jets have selected BYU quarterback Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Wilson steps in as the new face of the franchise in New York, and he will hope to be the long-term answer at quarterback with the team not reaching sustained heights with Mark Sanchez (No. 5 pick in 2009) and Sam Darnold (No. 3 pick in 2018) in recent history. The primary trait that should excite fans about Wilson is his undeniable arm talent, and he also brings an improvisational skillset to make plays when things break down—the combination of which has some comparing him to Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers. In his final season at BYU, Wilson threw for 33 touchdowns with just three interceptions, and the perimeter skillsets of Corey Davis and Denzel Mims should be a great match. The full scouting report for Wilson can be read in the link below, but from a fantasy perspective, he projects to be ranked below Trevor Lawrence and whoever San Francisco drafts to start his career in terms of both redraft and dynasty value.

The Jaguars have selected Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
A selection that was months (and arguably years) in the making, Lawrence lands in Jacksonville and will be tasked with turning around a team that went 1-15 last season. It will be up to Urban Meyer and the front office to support their new franchise quarterback, but Lawrence is rightfully viewed as a “generational” prospect after going 34-2 for the Tigers—including leading Dabo Swinney’s squad to a national championship victory as a true freshman. Overall, Lawrence has all the physical tools and intangibles that teams want in a franchise quarterback, and his ability to do damage as a runner should give him QB1 upside as a rookie. The full scouting report for Lawrence can be read in the link below.

Aaron Rodgers has told some people inside the Packers organization that he does not want to return to the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
According to Schefter, Rodgers is “so disgruntled” with the team that he has indicated he wants to leave, so it suddenly sounds like the smoke in terms of rumors about a divorce could quickly turn into a full-blown fire. Green Bay has sent members of the organization out to meet with Rodgers at various points this offseason, but he remains unhappy—partly due to the team not informing him of a trade up for first-round pick Jordan Love last year. With the 49ers rumored to have offered the No. 3 overall pick for Rodgers, this news creates more intrigue ahead of tonight’s draft; and it also should be noted how Rodgers could even have Jeopardy! as a fallback option if he simply decides to step away from the game altogether.

The Steelers are extending Mason Rudolph.
Pittsburgh likes Rudolph, and this will keep him with the team through the 2022 season, potentially giving him a shot to compete for the starting job depending on the future of Ben Roethlisberger after this year. Rudolph has played pretty well when filling in for the Steelers early in his career.

Tim Tebow looking to return to the NFL?
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Tebow tried out for the Jaguars, who of course are now coached by his former head coach at Florida, Urban Meyer. However, Tebow tried out as a tight end as he looks to potentially return to professional football after retiring from baseball a few months ago. Tebow is now 33 years old and has not played in the NFL since all the way back in 2012 for the Jets—and he only played quarterback. He did spend time with the Patriots and Eagles through 2015; but still, several years later, this is an intriguing possibility for Tebow. If Jacksonville signs him, it’d be a homecoming of sorts for what would likely be the final stage of his football career. Tebow’s signing would obviously be very popular among most Jags fans, and he’s not someone to bet or root against.

The Panthers are picking up the fifth-year option for D.J. Moore.
Moore is coming off of back-to-back seasons of 1,100+ receiving yards, so it was fully expected that the Panthers would pick up his fifth-year option. The 2018 first-round pick will look to gain chemistry with new quarterback Sam Darnold and/or potentially a rookie in his second season in Joe Brady’s offense. Somewhat quietly, Moore averaged 18.1 yards per reception last season, hitting 1,193 yards on just 66 receptions.

The Giants picked up Saquon Barkley’s fifth-year option.
This was basically just a formality, as it would have been a huge surprise if the Giants didn’t pick up the fifth-year option on their former No. 2 pick. Coming off a torn ACL, Barkley, who will reportedly be 100% for Week 1, now has two years remaining on his rookie deal. The explosive running back is rejoining an offense that should have a different look after adding free agent receiver Kenny Golladay (and potentially with more additions to come during the draft), and he should be a top pick in 2021 fantasy drafts.
