Join now >Alex Smith (calf) will not play in the Wild Card Round.
This is really unfortunate, but Smith’s calf simply hasn’t been responding after he toughed it out last week and helped Washington clinch the NFC East. Smith will now hope Taylor Heinicke can lead the team, and perhaps he can get in position to potentially play in the Divisional Round. Regardless of what happens, Smith’s return to the field has been admirable. After going 5-1 as Washington’s starter, Smith will win Comeback Player of the Year with ease.

The Saints activated Michael Thomas (ankle) from injured reserve.
The plan was to put Thomas on injured reserve and have him ready for the postseason, and the former All-Pro is indeed ready to play in the Wild Card Round versus the Bears tomorrow. Thomas had a very disappointing regular season, but he’ll look to be a difference-maker for Drew Brees in the Saints during the playoffs.

The Saints activated Alvin Kamara from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
As expected Kamara has been cleared in time for tomorrow’s playoff game against the Bears. Expect the star running back to be heavily involved for the Saints as they look to make a run to the Super Bowl.

Darnell Mooney (ankle) has been ruled out for the Wild Card Round.
Mooney did not practice all week, so this isn’t a surprise after he suffered an ankle injury last Sunday. The impressive rookie receiver being ruled out today presumably means he won’t be making the trip to New Orleans for tomorrow’s game.

Jared Goff (thumb) will not start for the Rams today.
Rams head coach told FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer the news. John Wolford will start against the Seahawks for the Wild Card Round. Just two weeks after thumb surgery, Goff probably doesn’t have enough control of his passes to play well yet—but he’d be out there if something happened to Wolford.

Zack Moss gets carted off with apparent leg injury.
[UPDATE: It is officially an ankle injury for Moss, and the Bills call him doubtful to return.] Moss had his leg twisted awkwardly and appeared to have suffered a potential knee injury, so unfortunate it looks like his day is over after getting carted off. Before leaving, Moss had seven carries for 21 yards and four carries for 26 yards. Devin Singletary will step into more of a feature role while Moss is out.

Jared Goff (thumb) is officially active for the Wild Card Round.
Goff pushed to play following surgery under two weeks ago, and things were trending this way after he was able to get on the practice field and do a good amount during the week. He’s definitely not at 100%, but it was going to be hard to keep him out of leading Sean McVay’s offense in a playoff game. Goff and the Rams were just in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, so they’ll look to get back there again starting today against the Seahawks.
