Rhett Ellison | Retired TE

Rhett Ellison catches two passes in Giants’ loss.

Ellison had 21 yards against the Lions. He’s a better asset for the Giants than he is for your fantasy team.

Roger Lewis | Free Agent WR

Roger Lewis catches both targets in Week 2.

Lewis worked in and out of the game with Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle), who was apparently on a pitch count. Lewis had 13 yards on his two targets and is off the fantasy radar right now.

Brandon Marshall | Free Agent WR

Brandon Marshall catches only one pass in Week 2.

The first two games for Marshall with his new team have not gone well, as he has just one catch in each of them. Marshall was targeted five times in the game, which was tied with Odell Beckham Jr. for second-most on the team. But the veteran receiver had a key drop on a perfect deep ball from Eli Manning late in the game. The veteran receiver obviously has the upside and ability to pick things up and become a good fantasy option, but this is not a good start.

Sterling Shepard | Buccaneers WR

Sterling Shepard catches two passes in Giants’ loss to the Lions.

The second-year player picked up 23 yards on his two receptions while he also had two carries for seven yards. Shepard won’t have a fantasy impact until the Giants offense picks it up after their poor start to the year.

Paul Perkins | Free Agent RB

Paul Perkins doesn’t do much in Week 2.

The Giants could not get much going on the ground against the Lions, and Perkins had only ten yards on seven carries while adding 12 receiving yards on two receptions. Playing from behind didn’t help, but the Giants probably want to be more committed to the running game than that. Still, Perkins could only muster a long of four yards on his seven attempts. Perkins and the Giants play the Eagles in Week 3.

9/19/17 - 09:18 AM ET

Evan Engram | Broncos TE

Evan Engram scores first-career touchdown in Week 2.

The first-round rookie tight end from Ole Miss caught four of a team-high seven targets against the Lions and gained 49 yards. Engram’s touchdown came on a play where he was lined up in the backfield and acted like he was a lead blocker before running right by the defense and catching a wide-open 18-yard touchdown. Engram’s potential as a receiving weapon at tight end is obvious, and he’ll look to keep it going next week against the Eagles—though it is a difficult matchup on paper.

Odell Beckham Jr. | Free Agent WR

Odell Beckham Jr. catches four of five targets in 2017 debut.

This game against the Lions was OBJ’s first of the season after missing Week 1, and the Giants looked to work him back into things after he missed a few weeks of practice dealing with the ankle injury. OBJ didn’t start the game, but he was in there quickly and worked in and out for much of it. He had four receptions for 36 yards in what was a Giants’ loss to the Lions, and he had a drop on the final offensive play for the Giants on a potential first down—he just looked up at the defender, taking his eyes off the ball. He appeared to be 100%, but if he isn’t it might take him some time to get back. And hopefully he isn’t hindered if he did come back too early. We expect him to be fine soon if he isn’t already, though.
