Join now >The Cardinals signed RB Chris Johnson.
The veteran running back just missed the cut on Arizona’s final roster over a week ago, but he’s back after the unfortunate wrist injury to David Johnson. Kerwynn Williams will likely be the leader in the backfield, but there’s a chance CJ emerges and becomes the number one guy in DJ’s absence. The Cardinals look like they’ll have a full-blown RBBC unless someone steps up and takes over the job.

The Texans placed C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) on IR.
Fiedorowicz suffered the concussion on Sunday against the Jaguars. He already suffered one during training camp, and you have to feel for fourth-year tight end. The Texans could bring him back after eight weeks if they designate him as one of their two return players, but Fiedorowicz long-term health is the most important thing at this point. Backup tight end Ryan Griffin also has a concussion and is unlikely to play on Thursday night, so the Texans are pretty shallow at that position right now.

DeAndre Hopkins will continue to get targeted heavily this season.
This isn’t a huge surprise or anything, but it’s exactly what fantasy owners of Hopkins want to hear. Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said they’re always going to target Hopkins—who was targeted 16 times in Week 1—a lot, and he said he wishes Hopkins had “20 targets” last game. O’Brien wouldn’t name his starting quarterback for Thursday night against the Bengals but it’s expected to be Deshaun Watson. Either way, Hopkins will get the ball thrown to him a ton, and he’s probably the heavy favorite to lead the league in targets in 2017.

Ravens RB Danny Woodhead is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, according to Ian Rapoport.
Woodhead suffered what appeared to be a bad hamstring injury that forced him to be carted to the locker room on Sunday against the Bengals, so 4-6 weeks is a lot better than it could’ve been. Still, expect the longer end of this timeline, and don’t be surprised if he ends up out longer than that to ensure he’s 100%. Terrance West looks like he’ll be the clear lead guy in the backfield with Woodhead out, but Javorius Allen actually led the Ravens in carries last week. Allen is one of the best waiver wire adds this week. If you have room on your bench or have an IR spot, Woodhead is worth keeping on your fantasy roster, especially in PPR leagues.

The Jaguars are signing WR Max McCaffrey.
McCaffrey, the brother of Christian, was on New Orleans’ practice squad but the Jaguars signed him to their roster to help make up for the loss of Allen Robinson (ACL). McCaffrey is more of a dynasty prospect than a standard league waiver add, but he’s someone to keep an eye on.

The Colts signed Matt Jones to their practice squad.
Jones was cut just a few days ago, but he’s back in Indy on the practice squad. The 2015 third-round pick will just have to keep working and hope for an opportunity on an active roster at some point.

David Johnson is getting wrist surgery and will miss 2-3 months, according to ESPN.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news, and it’s pretty much worst-case for Johnson and the Cardinals. The second opinion obviously made it clear Johnson needs surgery for his dislocated wrist. The Cardinals will now put their star running back on IR, and he can come back after eight weeks. Those that selected Johnson with their first pick need to hope they can get by without him for several weeks and hope to get him back for a playoff run late in the year. The running back situation for the Cardinals is unclear, with Kerwynn Williams, Andre Ellington, and D.J. Foster set to split work. Williams is the best bet for good and consistent fantasy value.
