The Eagles waived Matt Jones.

Jones again had a fumbling issue throughout the preseason, but he otherwise played pretty well as both a runner and receiver. Jones caught the game-winning touchdown in Philadelphia's preseason win last Thursday. The 2015 third-round pick should draw interest elsewhere.

The Eagles are signing running back Matt Jones, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Philadelphia reportedly had three running backs, including former Raven Terrance West, work out for the team yesterday. The Eagles apparently like what they saw from Jones, and he'll now join a backfield that already includes Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, Darren Sproles, Wendell Smallwood, and Donnel Pumphrey. The former second-round pick Jones has a lot of ability and is different than the rest of the group at 6'2", so he shouldn't be counted out to potentially make the squad. However, Jones isn't a recommended fantasy option quite yet. Jones was a 2015 third-round pick of the Redskins and spent the first two years of his career with them before spending parts of last season with the Colts.

The Colts have waived running back Matt Jones.

After getting released by the Redskins ahead of last season, Jones spent 2017 on and off the Colts roster. He received only five carries for 14 yards during the season. The former third-round pick is still only 25, and he'll draw interest from other teams. Ideally, he'll look for an opportunity where he'll have a chance to compete for playing time in training camp, as he's been buried on the depth chart in Washington and Indianapolis. Jones is a big back with ability, but he's not on the fantasy radar right now.

The Colts waived running back Matt Jones.

This is the second time the Colts have waived Jones, as they also did back in early September. The talented third-year back hasn't had many in-game opportunities this season, just getting five carries for 14 yards in three games played. There will be other teams interested in Jones at some point.

Matt Jones (knee) is doubtful for Week 5.

Jones didn't practice this week and he probably was not going to be active for the game either way with rookie Marlon Mack back. Frank Gore, Robert Turbin, and Mack will man the backfield against San Francisco.

Matt Jones gets four carries in Week 4.

Jones picked up 11 yards on his four carries. He's just a dynasty league option for now.

Matt Jones gets one carry in first game as a Colt.

The third-year back gained three yards on his only carry. The Colts ran the ball 36 times, but veteran Frank Gore handled 25 of the carries. Jones is just a dynasty league option.

The Colts elevated RB Matt Jones to the practice squad.

The third-year back, formerly of the Redskins, is back on an active roster after an injury to Colts rookie Marlon Mack. Jones should immediately get some work in what should be a run-heavy gameplan led by Frank Gore, Robert Turbin, and Jones. The former third-round pick just needs to hold onto the ball and he should play very well and do some damage on his touches. He's not in consideration for fantasy lineups, though.

The Colts signed Matt Jones to their practice squad.

Jones was cut just a few days ago, but he's back in Indy on the practice squad. The 2015 third-round pick will just have to keep working and hope for an opportunity on an active roster at some point.

The Colts waived running back Matt Jones.

Indy needed to elevate guard Adam Redmond to the 53-man roster from the practice squad and waived Jones to make room. The talented former third-round pick won't have trouble finding another team, and the Bears had reportedly also put a claim on Jones when the Redskins initially cut him. There could be a match there.

The Colts claimed former Redskins running back Matt Jones.

This is a great acquisition for the Colts, who now have a very deep running back group. Jones is an extremely talented former third-round pick in 2015 that fell out of favor in Washington because of fumbling issues last season. The big back that former Redskins GM Scot McCloughan called the most talented back with the Redskins will fill in behind Frank Gore in Indy's backfield along with rookie Marlon Mack and Robert Turbin.

Redskins cut talented running back Matt Jones.

Jones was a 2015 third-round pick that was buried on the depth chart in Washington after he struggled with fumbles last season. The former Florida Gator requested a trade or release months ago, but the Redskins did not oblige. Now, Jones will be free to sign with any team tomorrow at noon Eastern time, and he should be among the players teams are most interested in. Just speculating, the Ravens could be a team interested in Jones. Former Redskins GM Scot McCloughan said he doesn't think there's any question Jones was the most talented guy in the backfield for the Redskins, and Jones will get the opportunity to prove himself with another team now.

Matt Jones enters toward the end of the Redskins' third preseason game.

Jones had five carries for five yards and two receptions for ten yards. It's hard not to feel for Jones, who really has been buried on the depth chart with the Redskins intent on not trading or releasing him. Former Redskins GM Scot McCloughan said this week that he believes there's no doubt Jones is the best running back in Washington's backfield. We might not be able to find out as long as he's with the Redskins, but Jones could be getting released on Friday when cuts are made.

Matt Jones rushed three times for negative-one yards in last night's preseason opener.

Jones did catch a 17-yard pass, but he appears to be not-for-long in Washington. The former third-round pick should quickly find another job if/when he is in another city, and we will get a better picture on his fantasy prospects then.

Redskins running back Matt Jones' agent asked for his release from the team, according to the Associated Press.

Jones' agent, Hadley Englehard, told the AP that they have "asked very politely" for the team to release Jones. The former starting running back reported to the team yesterday for minicamp, but reportedly got only two reps with the second and third teams. It's clear the Redskins don't have any plans to use Jones, and the right thing to do for the big back would be to release him and let him compete for solid playing time with another team. But Washington must be looking for a trade or keeping him on the roster for depth purposes, and Jones is not happy about it. Maybe the request for a release will change things.

Matt Jones reported to the Redskins yesterday, according to The Washington Post.

Jones was reportedly told that he isn't in the team's plans after they drafted Samaje Perine in the draft, but head coach Jay Gruden said he "better" come to mandatory mini camp. You have to feel for Jones, who was apparently straight up told he wouldn't be seeing the field for the Redskins. Washington would probably be doing the right thing if they released the big back and let him sign somewhere else. Jones reporting to minicamp also prevents him from getting fined for missing it.

RB Matt Jones will not be at Redskins' OTAs, according to Ian Rapoport.

Jones is a 2015 third round pick that was benched last season for fumbling issues and was a healthy scratch for much of the end of the season. Now the Redskins added Oklahoma's all-time leading rusher Samaje Perine in the draft, and Jones is a candidate to be traded. Jones is a big back with speed, and teams will be interested in him. He could end up being released by the Redskins if no one trades for him.

Redskins running back Matt Jones is on the trade block, according to Ian Rapoport.

Jones showed major flashes through his first two seasons, but struggled with fumbling and consistency issues. A big back with great speed for his size, Jones should draw interest from teams. If not, the Redskins might release him at some point. Rob Kelley, Chris Thompson, and Mack Brown will likely be the Redskins' top three running backs this season.

Matt Jones is inactive for the Redskins.

He appears to be a healthy scratch. Rob Kelley has performed well and is the Redskins' new starting running back. We like Matt Jones, but he has had some fumbling issues, which likely led to his benching. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry this season, and will likely be active again this season—he's too good not to be. He doesn't play on special teams, though, which is something to keep in mind when making the 46-man roster.
