Hunter Henry | Patriots TE

Henry relegated to blocking duties in Week 1 loss.

In a move that we definitely didn’t see coming, the Chargers mostly used the second-year tight end on early downs as a blocker, and he received zero targets in the season opener. Hopefully it was a game plan specific thing against Denver, but new head coach Anthony Lynn doesn’t seem like a good hire for Henry so far. He should stay rostered based on talent, but this could be a frustrating year for Henry owners if things don’t change. Los Angeles faces Miami next.

Coby Fleener | Free Agent TE

Coby Fleener scores in Saints’ Week 1 loss.

The touchdown came in the fourth quarter and was the Saints’ only touchdown against the Vikings. He had five receptions for 54 yards and the touchdown in the game. The TD came on a nice high-point grab in the end zone on a perfect throw from Drew Brees, who as usual had his seam throw working. Fleener has some definite post-hype breakout potential in 2017, and he’ll try to keep it going next week against New England.

9/11/17 - 11:24 PM ET

Emmanuel Sanders | Free Agent WR

Emmanuel Samders caught three passes for 26 yards in Monday night’s win over the Chargers.

Sanders narrowly missed a diving touchdown grab in the first half, and it was a catch he usually comes down with. His six targets were second to Demaryius Thomas (eight) on the team. Sanders will be a decent FLEX option for Week 2 against the Cowboys.

9/12/17 - 01:47 AM ET

Mark Ingram | Free Agent RB

Mark Ingram gets 11 touches in Week 1.

His 11 touches were tied with rookie Kamara for the most of the Saints backs, while Adrian Peterson had six carries in the loss to Minnesota. Ingram had six carries for 17 yards and five receptions for 54 yards (tied for most on the team). A lot of Ingram’s damage through the air came on the final drive for the Saints, when Drew Brees checked down to Ingram four times—likely winning a lot of weeks for people (and frustrating those against him) in PPR leagues.

9/11/17 - 11:17 PM ET

Kyle Rudolph | Retired TE

Kyle Rudolph scores in Week 1.

The Vikings tight end had three receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown against New Orleans. The touchdown came on a 15-yarder on an out-breaking route towards the pylon that Rudolph caught at the front of the end zone and was in for the score. If the offensive line is improved this season, it could mean more targets for the Vikings wide receivers—but Rudolph is still a solid TE1 either way.

9/11/17 - 10:21 PM ET

Demaryius Thomas | Retired WR

Demaryius Thomas grabs five passes in Week 1.

DT had 67 yards against the Chargers, which was a game-high. Thomas did have one drop in the game when he turned his eyes away to run too quickly, but he looked good besides that. A healthier Thomas is looking for yet another 90+ reception, 1,000+ yard season in 2017.

9/12/17 - 01:33 AM ET

Melvin Gordon III | Free Agent RB

Melvin Gordon gets 23 touches in Chargers’ Week 1 loss.

Gordon received 23 touches against the Broncos, carrying 18 times for 54 yards and catching five passes for 25 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came in the second quarter on an angle route that Gordon broke a tackle on then ran up the middle and leaped over a defender into the end zone for an 11-yard touchdown. The third-year back only had one screen pass in the game, but we could see more moving forward after it was effective last season. Gordon is an obvious RB1 next week against Miami.
