Kearse was targeted a team-high nine times and caught seven of them for 59 yards versus the Bills. The former Seahawk should remain a high floor option this season, especially in PPR leagues.

Alex Smith lights up the Patriots to open the season.
On a big national stage on the kickoff game for the 2017 NFL season, Smith could not have played any better and was 28/35 for 368 yards and four touchdowns. His passes were on the money to all levels of the field, and he unleashed a couple of touchdown dimes on a 75-yard bomb to Tyreek Hill and a 78-yard strike to Kareem Hunt. Because he did this with everyone watching, hopefully people will finally stop talking about how Smith “can’t throw deep.” The Chiefs get a mini bye and play the Eagles in Arrowhead for Week 2, and Smith will be an excellent option for those that stream quarterbacks.

Davante Adams catches three passes in Week 1.
The fourth-year receiver was targeted seven times by Aaron Rodgers and had 47 yards on his three receptions. A healthy Randall Cobb might be a slight concern for Adams, but he still should have another strong season after he broke out in 2016. The Packers play the Falcons next week in Atlanta.

Matt Forte starts Week 1 for the Jets.
Forte stared the game and played more snaps than Bilal Powell, but Powell received more touches (12) compared to Forte (nine). The veteran back had six carries for 16 yards and three receptions for 20 yards versus the Bills. The timeshare limits Forte’s upside, so he’s only a FLEX option in fantasy leagues as long as both guys remain in the mix.

Malcolm Brown rushed seven times for 16 yards and one touchdown in the Rams’ blowout win over the Colts.
Brown was able to get a decent amount of work in with the outcome not in question for LA, but Todd Gurley is the clear workhorse for the team. The second-year backup can stay on the waiver wire as no more than a decent handcuff.

Danny Amendola (head) leaves opening game.
Amendola played almost every snap before suffering a head injury on a punt return in the third quarter and going to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. He looked like he stepped right into Julian Edelman’s role for a lot of the snaps and Tom Brady looked his way a lot. Amendola had six receptions for 100 yards before exiting the game, and he’ll have ten days to get right for Week 2 against the Saints. Things can change game-to-game and it’s easy to overreact, but it appears Amendola will be a very good weekly fantasy option in 2017.
