Chris Carson | Retired RB

Chris Carson gets six carries in Week 1.

The rookie running back outplayed Eddie Lacy (five carries for three yards) with Thomas Rawls (ankle) out, carrying six times for 39 yards and catching one pass for ten yards. Carson had a long run of 30 yards in the game, and he was not easy to bring down when he had the ball. Thomas Rawls might ultimately take over as the lead guy when he returns, likely this week, but Carson might’ve worked his way into at least the number two role in Seattle. He’s a strong bench hold.

T.J. Yeldon | Free Agent RB

T.J. Yeldon (hamstring) did not participate in practice today.

It’s only Wednesday, but Yeldon being unable to get in even a limited practice might not bode well for his Week 1 status. It’d mean more work for Leonard Fournette and Chris Ivory if Yeldon is unable to go versus the Texans.

Scott Tolzien | Retired QB

Scott Tolzien struggles in Week 1 start.

Tolzien was 9/18 for 128 yards and two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns. The veteran quarterback was in a tough spot against a Wade Phillips defense, and he was replaced with Jacoby Brissett late in the game. Tolzien didn’t have much help from his offensive line, but the Colts will probably go with Brissett next week as he gains more comfort with the offense. Either way, Indy is one of the NFL’s worst teams for as long as Andrew Luck is sidelined. The season opener showed how great Luck is on a weak roster more than it showed the limitations of Tolzien.

Alshon Jeffery | Free Agent WR

Alshon Jeffery doesn’t do much in Week 1.

The big Eagles receiver had a difficult matchup against Josh Norman and the Redskins, but he was still targeted seven times by Carson Wentz, catching three of them for 38 yards. He was given a couple of jump ball opportunities, including one in the end zone and one on a deep pass down the field late in the game. Jeffery has another difficult matchup in Week 2 against Marcus Peters and the Chiefs, but Wentz obviously wants to look his big receiver’s way and will give him chances to make plays this season.

Russell Wilson | Giants QB

Russell Wilson struggles again against the Packers in Week 1 loss.

Seattle could not get anything going offensively against Green Bay, settling for only three field goals in a 17-9 loss. Wilson was 14/27 for 158 yards, adding two carries for 40 yards; but he did lose a fumble. For whatever reason, Wilson seems to not play very well against the Packers, and he was unable to avoid the rush—though his offensive line didn’t do him any favors—and make big plays in this loss. The hurry up offense did seem to help them move the ball, so maybe we’ll see more of that moving forward. Wilson should be able to turn things around next Sunday against the 49ers.

Kenny Golladay | Free Agent WR

Kenny Golladay (foot) was a limited participant in practice.

The rookie receiver will look to get in a full practice ahead of his first game on Sunday against the Cardinals. There’s no concern about him missing the game.

9/6/17 - 11:16 PM ET

Stephen Anderson | Free Agent TE

Stephen Anderson caught two passes for 14 yards on Sunday.

Anderson replaced a concussed C.J. Fiedorowicz, so there’s a good chance he draws a start on a short week with Houston playing on Thursday night. He might be worth a look for anyone that is really desperate at tight end.
