Join now >The Texans are signing DeAndre Hopkins to a five-year extension, according to Adam Schefter.
Hopkins held out for one day during last year’s training camp, but he returned quickly and was rewarded big-time over a year later. According to Schefter, the contract will include the largest guarantee for any wide receiver in NFL history; so it’s a ton, as it’ll be higher than the $47 million guaranteed Falcons receiver Julio Jones received. The Texans have been taking care of they guys today, as this is the fourth extension they’ve done over the last few hours. Hopkins’ extension comes after he missed almost the entire preseason after injuring his hand—he hasn’t practiced since August 9. He’ll be good to go for Week 1 though, and if the contract is any indication, the Texans are going to feed him the ball.

Brian Hoyer and the 49ers score two touchdowns against the Vikings in exhibition.
Hoyer was 12/17 for 176 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 3 preseason game. Kyle Shanahan was dialing things up and the Niners were clicking. They scored on the opening drive, as Hoyer threw a 45-yard touchdown to a wide-open Marquise Goodwin. The second touchdown was on an angle route to Carlos Hyde for 24 yards. It was a very good performance against a potentially elite defense, so this is a big positive. Don’t be surprised if Hoyer, who is getting drafted in virtually no leagues, provides some QB1 weeks in 2017.

Texans give C.J. Fiedorowicz three-year contract extension.
This is the third extension Houston has given so far today, and it’s a great one for Fiedorowicz—reportedly $22 million over three years, with $10.1 million guaranteed. The third-round pick in the 2014 draft blew away his career highs when he had 54 receptions for 559 yards and four touchdowns last season. Fiedorowicz was a solid fantasy option at times last season, and he should have some startable weeks in 2017.

Derek Carrier scores in Week 3 of the preseason.
The fifth-year tight end had two receptions (on two targets) for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Redskins’ exhibition versus the Bengals. It’s great to see Carrier score, but unfortunately he might struggle to make the final roster for the Redskins, considering the depth at the tight end position. If he ends up not making the Redskins, there will be other teams interested in him.

The Panthers added $2 million in incentives to Greg Olsen’s contract, according to Adam Schefter.
The productive tight end for the Panthers wanted a new contract, and this should help. Olsen is the only tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 yards in three straight seasons, so the incentives could have something to do with reaching the 1,000-yard mark again. While he probably would have preferred a new contract that pays him more outright, Olsen is probably happy with this. He should reach whatever the milestone is as long as he stays healthy, which he has been able to do throughout his career.

Tyler Eifert did not play in the Bengals’ third preseason game.
It was unclear why exactly Eifert was sitting from the game while the rest of the starters played, but Cincinnati.com reports he sat so he remains healthy for the season opener on September 10. Eifert offers very high touchdown potential, but could struggle for consistent fantasy value if he’s not scoring. He’s going as the TE6 in fantasy drafts right now.

Jordan Matthews is expected to be ready for Week 1.
Bills GM Brandon Beane said “it looks as if we’ll have our cast of characters at the wide receiver group for Week 1.” Matthews is recovering from a fractured sternum, but he’s gotten some work in and has indicated he’ll be ready to open the season. It’ll likely be Matthews, Zay Jones, and Andre Holmes as Buffalo’s top three receivers to start the season. Matthews and Jones are the most likely to be fantasy contributors, though don’t be surprised if Holmes makes an impact.
