Join now >The Steelers acquired tight end Vance McDonald from the 49ers.
The 49ers received a fourth-round pick from Pittsburgh, according to multiple reports. This is quite the get for the Steelers, as McDonald is a very talented tight end that can run the seams and fit right in with the Pittsburgh offense. Though he’s arriving with under two weeks to go until the regular season, McDonald is likely to step right in as the primary receiving tight end for the Steelers. McDonald is currently going in virtually zero fantasy drafts, but he could be worth a selection in the final rounds or a waiver wire pickup during the season.

A.J. Green grabs four balls in Bengals’ third preseason game.
Green was targeted six times in the first half by Andy Dalton, and he had 43 yards on his four receptions. He did leave the game briefly when he got banged up a bit on one of his catches, but he came back quickly. As usual, Green looks really good and he has reportedly had his best training camp this year. His ADP is now in the late first-round, likely because of his great floor along with an elite WR1 upside.

Breshad Perriman is expected to be ready for Week 1.
The third-year receiver has been dealing with a hamstring injury that’s kept him out for a few weeks, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh expects him to be good to go for Week 1. Perriman will likely be the number three receiver behind Jeremy Maclin and Mike Wallace, so he probably won’t offer enough consistency to be in fantasy lineups. He does have a ton of potential though and was talked about as being unguardable until he got injured. Perriman should be rostered in all dynasty leagues, and he’s OK for a bench spot in standard leagues.

Bengals offense doesn’t do much in third preseason game.
The offense had a 15-play, 87-yard drive on their first possession, but the first team didn’t pick up much yardage after that. Andy Dalton was 8/13 for 70 yards in the exhibition versus the Redskins. Dalton is currently being drafted as a late-round quarterback in most drafts, and he does offer some upside with perhaps the best supporting cast of his career. The Bengals open the season on September 10 against the Ravens.

Joe Flacco has resumed throwing.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh made the announcement. This is a huge positive, as Flacco sounds like he’s getting very close to practicing. Obviously, he’s missed a ton of practice time with this back injury, but look for him to get a full week of practice next week leading up to their Week 1 game against the Bengals. Flacco being healthy would be a massive boost to the skill position players for the Ravens.

Jeremy Hill leaves Bengals’ third preseason game with an ankle injury.
The team announced that Hill is out for the game. Hill had five carries for 15 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game. Hopefully the ankle injury isn’t too bad, but rookie Joe Mixon will have a prime opportunity to get a lot of work with the first team here. We’ll have to find out the severity of this injury to determine whether Hill is in jeopardy of missing the Bengals’ first game on September 10.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott’s appeal hearing is today.
Elliott is appealing his six-game suspension for alleged domestic abuse of his former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson, and the hearing is being held by Harold Henderson. Elliott will indeed be in attendance at the hearing, and he will be under oath. In compliance with the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, a decision on the appeal must be made “as soon as practicable.” Ideally, Henderson will come to a decision by sometime this weekend, but there’s really no way to force him to make a decision. It’s possible this drags into the regular season, in which case Elliott would be eligible to play in Week 1. It’s also possible Elliott and the NFLPA take this to the courts, in which case Elliott might not serve is possible suspension for quite some time. We might hear some about how this hearing goes later today.
