Marvin Jones Jr. scores again in preseason game.

Jones caught a go route for a touchdown last week from Matthew Stafford, and he did the same this week against the Patriots. Jones caught four-of-seven targets for 62 yards and one touchdown in the exhibition. His play this preseason brings flashbacks to his scoring early-season start in 2016, so we’ll see if he can keep things going into the regular season for the Lions as he’s unlikely to play in Week 4 of the preseason.

Dwayne Washington scores twice in Lions’ third preseason game.

Washington had seven carries for 15 yards and a touchdown, while adding two receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown receiving. The touchdown reception was an 18-yarder that came with the first team on a check down from Matthew Stafford, so that’s a good sign. It’d be a surprise if Washington wasn’t on Detroit’s final roster.

Theo Riddick gets one touch in Week 3 of the preseason.

Starter Ameer Abdullah handled almost all the work with the first team, getting 16 touches. Meanwhile, Riddick had only one carry for no yards. With Abdullah looking to handle the majority of the work in Detroit’s backfield, it looks like Riddick might only be an option in PPR leagues in 2017.

Early indications are Julian Edelman tore his ACL, according to multiple reports.

It certainly looked like it could’ve been a serious injury after Edelman tweaked his knee on a non-contact play in the first drive of New England’s third preseason game. Because—as stated earlier—Edelman is such a tough guy, the injury was probably worse than he made it appear after he hopped his way off the field under his own power. Edelman is 31-years-old and the Patriots were hoping to have another special season, so this would be terrible news for both Edelman and the team. He’s set to get an MRI on the knee this weekend, so hopefully he somehow receives good news and isn’t out for the season with this knee injury.

Ameer Abdullah gets 16 touches in Week 3 of the preseason.

Abdullah had 13 carries for 60 yards and three receptions (on three targets) for 39 yards in the exhibition against the Patriots. Meanwhile, Theo Riddick had only one carry and no receptions. It certainly looks like he’s going to get the 200+ carries the Lions want from him if he stays healthy this season. Abdullah’s ADP is currently at about RB25, and he should easily be able to deliver value there if he’s on the field for 16 games.

Brandin Cooks catches on pass in Patriots’ third preseason game.

The dynamic receiver had one reception for eight yards in the exhibition against the Lions. Cooks only had one reception for seven yards last week, and his preseason is likely over as the starters are not expected to play in Week 4 of the preseason. Despite not putting up numbers, Cooks’ ADP has risen to the third round because he is a great player in an elite offense catching passes from Tom Brady.

Gronk catches one pass in preseason Week 3 game.

He was only officially targeted twice by Tom Brady, catching one pass for nine yards, but he also drew a holding penalty a deep route and a pass interference in the end zone to help set up scores. We don’t expect Gronkowski or the Patriots starters to be out there in the preseason finale next Thursday, but it was great to see Gronk out there and healthy in a couple preseason games before the regular season. Gronkowski is going in the late second round of fantasy drafts.
