Join now >Mitchell Trubisky is getting first-team reps in practice.
The rookie quarterback has been impressive while starter Mike Glennon has a struggled a little bit in the preseason. Chicago has made it clear Glennon is the starter, but the coaches are obviously going to play whoever they believe gives them the best chance to win. Glennon is expected to play the first half in Sunday’s exhibition against the Titans, but Trubisky will also get time with the first team. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz only played in the first preseason game last season and he started in Week 1 as a rookie, so it wouldn’t be the most surprising thing ever if Trubisky starts the season after Glennon was the top quarterback all offseason and preseason.

Devonta Freeman won’t play in the Falcons’ third preseason game.
Freeman is still dealing with his concussion and head coach Dan Quinn says he will not play Saturday’s exhibition. Earlier this preseason, we saw Dolphins running back Jay Ajayi miss a couple weeks with a concussion before he was cleared. There’s no reason to be alarmed about Freeman’s Week 1 status, but ideally you’re not drafting your fantasy team just yet.

Chad Henne is starting the Jaguars’ third preseason game tomorrow.
Head coach Doug Marrone has stated this quarterback competition is wide open, and it appears Henne is ahead of Blake Bortles. However, both Henne and Bortles will get time with the first team in tomorrow’s exhibition against Carolina. Henne obviously looked better in the second preseason game against Tampa Bay, but we’ll see what happens tomorrow night. Out of Henne and Bortles, Henne is probably better for the skill position players for Jacksonville in terms of fantasy value.

Ka’Deem Carey is out about six weeks with a wrist injury.
Head coach John Fox just made the announcement that Carey had surgery on the wrist. This is obviously a terrible time for Carey to sustain this injury. He was likely going to make the team, so Carey will likely be placed on the PUP list and be forced to miss the first six games of the season. Because the Bears have a lot of depth at running back, the worst part of this for them is that Carey is one of the best special teams players in the NFL.

Cam Newton is set to make his preseason debut on Thursday.
The Panthers quarterback’s shoulder has progressed to the point where he’ll be out there. This was expected for a few days now, but now it’s official. Head coach Ron Rivera says Newton probably won’t just jump right in and play three quarters, but it’s still nice for him to be out there. Newton should get some work in the game then be ready to roll for Week 1 of the regular season when they take on the 49ers.

Brock Osweiler is not expected to play in the Browns’ third preseason game, according to Adam Schefter.
As Schefter notes in his tweet reporting this, it is indeed interesting. But it could also mean nothing. The Browns are likely to play rookie DeShone Kizer, who needs all the experience he can get if he’s going to start Week 1, for about three quarters in the third preseason game. Second-year quarterback Cody Kessler would then likely finish the game. More than anything, this probably confirms Osweiler will definitely not be under center for the Browns to open the season against Pittsburgh.

Seahawks running back C.J. Prosise has a strained groin.
Prosise injured his groin during warmups of last Friday’s preseason game against Minnesota, and that’s why he didn’t play in the game. According to The News Tribune, the Seahawks are concerned about the ability of Prosise, who has battled injuries the last few years dating back to Notre Dame, to stay healthy. Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable said “I think we all are” concerned about Prosise’s durability. The groin injury is not a serious one, and head coach Pete Carroll hopes Prosise can play in the team’s third preseason game on Friday against the Chiefs. If Prosise can get and remain healthy, the concerns should not become an issue. But if he’s injured again, don’t be surprised to see rookie Chris Carson or someone else step up in his place.
