Stacy Coley catches two-of-five targets in Vikings’ second preseason game.

Coley had 17 yards on his two receptions, and he also returned one kick (for 17 yards) and one punt (for -1 yards). The rookie receiver out of Miami is trying to make the 53-man roster for the Vikings.

Cam Newton is throwing passes today, according to multiple reports.

Newton didn’t play in the Panthers’ preseason opener as he recovers from shoulder surgery, but he is fully expected to play in Week 1. Carolina is doing the right thing by taking it slow with their franchise quarterback. He can be drafted as a midrange QB1 in 2017.

Marcedes Lewis catches two-of-four targets in exhibition against Tampa Bay.

The Jaguars tight end had 22 yards on his two receptions. The quarterback situation is totally up in the air, which could impact Lewis’ fantasy value; but he’s unlikely to put up numbers to make him a reliable fantasy option, regardless.

Rookie tight end Gerald Everett shows quickness in first preseason game.

The second-round pick had two receptions for 12 yards, with the highlight coming on a nine-yard reception. Everett spun away from the defender immediately after the catch, then put a crossover juke on another defender. It looked just like something Redskins tight end Jordan Reed would do, which happens to be the comparison a lot of people made for Everett (and Rams head coach Sean McVay coached Reed in Washington). Everett might not make a huge impact as a rookie, but he’s a very strong option in dynasty leagues.

Michael Floyd gets targeted three times in Vikings’ preseason game against the Seahawks.

Floyd appeared to only play in the first half and caught two of his three targets for 16 yards. Quarterback Sam Bradford targeted Floyd on a deep ball down the left sideline that Floyd had an opportunity to come down with but couldn’t. Floyd, who is suspended the first four games of the season, is probably going to make Minnesota’s final roster.

Nelson Spruce catches all six targets in preseason opener for the Rams.

He had six receptions for 30 yards. After dealing with injuries last season—but still making the 53-man roster—Spruce is trying to make the team again. His reliability is a big plus for his chances.

Cameron Brate caught two passes for 17 yards in Thursday night’s win.

Brate broke out and his position in touchdowns last season, but O.J. Howard will likely cause both tight ends to be frustrating weekly fantasy plays. We would say Brate is the better value, though, as he is currently going seven spots behind his teammate when it comes to fantasy tight ends.
