Join now >C.J. Prosise is a surprise scratch for tonight’s preseason game against the Vikings.
It’s completely unclear why Prosise, who practiced all week, isn’t playing in the game. Perhaps he is feeling under the weather or something—hopefully he’s OK. With Thomas Rawls (ankle) already out for the game, Eddie Lacy should get plenty of work with the first-team offense.

Blaine Gabbert goes 5/9 for 53 yards in second preseason game.
Gabbert didn’t see as much action as he did in the Hall of Fame game, entering as the third quarterback behind Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton against Oakland. Gabbert was also sacked four times. Do not count him out as a potential starting option after Carson Palmer, but it looks like Stanton is clearly the backup behind Palmer in 2017
8/13/17 - 02:34 PM ET
Corey Grant carries four times for 13 yards in exhibition against the Bucs.
The second-year back didn’t get much work, but he looks good and had the second most carries behind Chris Ivory (seven). Grant could have an opportunity to make a statement in the third preseason game versus Carolina, with Leonard Fournette (foot) and T.J. Yeldon (hamstring) battling injuries.

Carson Palmer leads TD drive in Week 1 preseason drive.
Palmer, who didn’t play in the Hall of Fame Game, played a series for the Cardinals against the Raiders and drove right down the field for a touchdown. Palmer was 4/8 for 39 yards and threw a strike to Brittan Golden for a 26-yard touchdown. Palmer did overthrow a deep ball for a potential touchdown earlier in the series, but his deep ball shouldn’t be much of a concern as it’s one of the strongest elements of his game. Look for Palmer to get some time again next Saturday against the Bears.
8/13/17 - 11:22 AM ET
Latavius Murray isn’t playing in tonight’s preseason game against Seattle.
Murray and the Vikings have been taking things slow as he works his way back from offseason ankle surgery. This will give impressive rookie Dalvin Cook (and Jerick McKinnon) more opportunities. Hopefully Murray is good to go for the most important third preseason game on Thursday.
8/18/17 - 10:18 PM ET
Malcolm Brown rushed five times for 25 yards in Saturday night’s preseason opener.
He also caught an eight-yard pass. Brown has been impressive this offseason, and it continues with the real (kind of) games. The 24-year-old looks like the top handcuff for Todd Gurley in 2017, and he might earn himself a handful of carries per game if he continues to play well.
8/13/17 - 11:20 AM ET
Mike Evans caught five passes for 57 yards in Thursday night’s preseason game.
He was dangling his arm (which had some kind of wrap on his forearm) at one point, but Evans was fine and went back into the game. Jameis Winston continues to look his big-bodied receiver’s way, and the Bucs really aired it out against Jacksonville, as Winston threw it 29 times in the first half. Evans is going safely in the first round of most fantasy drafts.
