McVay said, “obviously, his career when he’s been available, he’s been outstanding in terms of being able to stretch the field vertically, but when the balls in his hands, good things happen. We feel like he’s going to be a good addition to our offense.” Rams GM Les Snead also talked of the addition and feels Watkins will really “open the field” for everyone on offense. Snead also said they’ve had discussions with the Bills since the spring and they heated back up before they made the deal. Watkins will be both the Rams’ primary deep threat and their number one receiver, but Snead talked about the offense being “like a basketball team,” where everyone chips in. Watkins’ ADP is dropping after this trade, but if Jared Goff breaks out with his new coaching staff, Watkins should easily deliver excellent value around the 5th round.

Josh Malone catches touchdown in his first preseason game.
It was a good start for the rookie out of Tennessee. On his touchdown, he ran a quick post in the end zone to get pretty much wide open and score from eight yards. Malone had two receptions for 12 yards total. The talented receiver looks like he should be able to contribute quickly if called upon

Julio Jones won’t play in the second Falcons preseason game.
The Falcons are simply taking it slow with their star receiver after he had offseason foot surgery. It’s possible Atlanta doesn’t play Jones in the third preseason game on Thursday either, as they look to keep Jones healthy for the regular season. Devonta Freeman (concussion) also won’t play this Sunday in the exhibition against the Steelers.

Mike Wallace catches two passes for 33 yards in Baltimore’s second preseason game.
He had receptions of 19 and 14 yards, but Wallace did fumble (though it was recovered by the Ravens). Wallace might not have WR1 upside, but he should be a high floor option as one of Baltimore’s top two receivers along with Jeremy Maclin.

McCown was 6/13 for 31 yards in Saturday night’s game against the Rams.
The 36-year-old is most likely just a veteran presence during the preseason. He should get another chance next week against the Colts in Dallas.

Rod Streater caught two passes for 40 yards before leaving last night’s game with a foot injury.
Although the injury didn’t look particularly bad, Streater was clearly distraught and was down on the field for a few minutes until being taken off on a cart. Streater is no stranger to foot injuries, so perhaps he immediately knew it was serious. Hopefully he turns out to be OK and can make an impact for the Bills this season.

Joe Mixon shakes defenders in NFL debut.
Mixon rushed six times for 31 yards and caught an 11-yard pass in Friday night’s exhibition. The talented second-round pick backed up Jeremy Hill, but he quickly entered the game and worked with the first-team offense on the game’s first series. Mixon played the entire first half, and the highlights were a 13-yard run and the 11-yard reception, as he evaded and shook would-be tacklers on both plays. It’s pretty clear who the top fantasy option to own in the Cincy backfield is.
