Foster had four carries for seven yards and a touchdown, along with three receptions for 33 yards. Foster is a good player that New England likes, but it might be hard for him to make the 53-man roster in the crowded backfield.

Hunter Henry catches 17-yard pass in preseason opener.
Henry was on the field with Antonio Gates and the first-team offense, and a combination route with the veteran allowed the second-year tight end to get open on a cross. Later in the drive, Antonio Gates caught a touchdown in traffic. Both are very good players, and even though Henry is ready to be a full-time contributor, the Chargers won’t push the future Hall of Famer to the side. Still, Henry deserves to be drafted as a TE1.

Brandon Bolden plays well in preseason game versus Jacksonville.
Bolden had five carries for 33 yards and two receptions for 24 yards, including both a 24-yard run and a 20-yard reception. The Pats are stacked at running back, but Bolden shouldn’t be counted out. He’s been a contributor in the past and this is his sixth year with the team.

Kendall Wright starts in the slot for Bears’ first preseason game.
Wright played with starter Mike Glennon and appears to be clearly in the lead for the slot receiver job. He had one reception for 14 yards from Glennon. The Bears seem to be happy with the freelancing Wright in the slot, and he’s probably ready to make an impact after he says the Titans didn’t use him enough last year.

Dion Lewis plays into second quarter of preseason Week 1.
Lewis had seven carries for 32 yards and four receptions for 23 yards. He looked quick, as usual, but it was slightly surprising to see him get so much work in the game. James White, who was extended this offseason, appears far ahead as the passing down back for New England. But remember: Lewis is now a year removed from his torn ACL, so he might be more explosive than he was last season. Assuming he is on New England’s final roster, he will chip in for some work on offense along with White and the other backs.

Travis Benjamin catches 74-yard bomb in preseason opener.
It came off the arm of Kellen Clemens as he ran down the middle of the defense from the slot on the the left side of the formation. Benjamin also had another 15-yard catch on third down with Philip Rivers in at quarterback, which eventually led to a touchdown. It is still unclear when/if rookie Mike Williams will be able to get on the field, but Benjamin will likely be on the field with Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams until then. Despite last night’s game, he will be a weak boom-or-bust option.

Jacoby Brissett finishes preseason game for the Pats.
Jimmy G started the game and played into the second half, but Brissett came in and went 8/13 for 88 yards. The 2016 third round pick will continue to get more playing time this preseason, and he might play a lot in the final preseason game.
