Donnel Pumphrey doesn’t do much with nine touches in preseason debut.

The Eagles rookie running back had four carries for five yards and five receptions for 12 yards. He also fumbled when he mishandled a punt (but recovered it). With Darren Sproles in the mix already and fellow rookie Corey Clement impressing, Pumphrey isn’t guaranteed to be on the 53-man roster if he doesn’t perform well in the preseason.

Garrett Grayson completed 11/16 passes for 126 yards in the Saints’ preseason opener.

Chase Daniel got the start for New Orleans with Drew Brees sitting out, but Grayson quickly replaced the veteran backup. He didn’t throw any touchdowns or interceptions, but he did lose a fumble on a sack. Grayson is competing with Ryan Nassib for the third quarterback spot, and will be back in action next Sunday against the Chargers.

Corey Coleman flashes in Eagles preseason opener.

The undrafted rookie from Wisconsin had seven carries for 13 yards and two receptions for 31 yards. The Eagles struggled to block well throughout the entire game, but Clement ran hard. He also made a very nice catch on a short reception that he took 20 yards. Clement is in a battle for a roster spot, and it’s likely the Eagles would at least like to get him on the practice squad this season if they are able to.

LeGarrette Blount starts preseason game for the Eagles.

Blount had four carries for nine yards and struggled to find much room to run against Green Bay. Darren Sproles and Wendell Smallwood didn’t play, so we’ll have to see how the playing time shakes out with them in the mix. Smallwood is expected to challenge for some early-down work. Blount is fully expected to get most of the short yardage and goal line work, though.

Carson Wentz plays one drive in Eagles’ first preseason game.

Wentz led a touchdown drive on his only series against Green Bay, going 4/4 for 56 yards and a touchdown. The offensive line didn’t handle the Packers pass rush, but Wentz escaped a couple times, including on his touchdown throw to Mack Hollins. Wentz needs to play more in the next couple of preseason games, starting next week versus the Bills.

Nick O’Leary catches 16-yard pass in Week 1 of the preseason.

Currently number two on the unofficial depth chart, the third-year tight end is looking to have a breakout year after catching nine passes last season.

Logan Thomas catches a couple passes in preseason game.

The former Virginia Tech quarterback continues his transition to tight end and is looking like a good bet to make the Bills’ final roster. The 6’6″ tight end had two receptions for 22 yards in the game. He faces Philadelphia next week.
