CAP had six carries for 22 yards. He did break a 20-yard run, but didn’t find much room besides that. Artis-Payne should be good for a roster spot after proving he can contribute over his first two NFL seasons.

Joe Webb throws a couple touchdowns in preseason win against Houston.
The veteran quarterback was 7/14 for 128 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while adding three carries for 21 yards. Webb made some solid throws, showing off his strong arm. The interception came on an overthrown on a shot to the end zone. Webb is probably locked in as the team’s number three quarterback, as he also contributes on special teams.

Tyler Ervin has quiet preseason game against Carolina.
The second-year speedster had one reception for eight yards. It looked like Ervin lined up more at receiver than he did in the backfield, and with a deep running back group he might play more receiver moving forward.

Jaelen Strong catches one pass in preseason opener.
The third-year receiver had a nice 18-yard reception. It appears he is currently the third receiver behind DeAndre Hopkins and Braxton Miller, with Will Fuller out for 2-3 months with a broken collarbone.

Akeem Hunt gets five touches in first preseason game.
Hunt had two carries for eight yards and three receptions for 38 yards. His best play was a 16-yard reception where Deshaun Watson hit him on a slant route that he zoomed through the middle of the field on. Hunt also has kick return duties in his favor as he tries to make the final roster.

D’Onta Foreman breaks long run in preseason game against Carolina.
The rookie from Texas had nine carries for 76 yards including a 41-yard run late in the game. He also added two receptions for six yards. Foreman appears to be a clear top-three option with Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue in the Texans backfield, and he should get some work this season.

Deshaun Watson plays very well in first NFL preseason game.
Watson was 15/25 for 179 yards, along with three carries for 24 yards and a touchdown. The national championship winning quarterback looked extremely calm out there from the start, displaying his great poise, and he looked in complete command of the offense, making audibles at the line of scrimmage, avoiding mistakes, and hitting his check downs to keep the offense moving. He also showed his ability to move outside the pocket and keep his eyes down the field to make throws. Watson’s first drive after halftime was a 15-play, 75-yard drive that he capped off with a 15-yard touchdown run. It’s only one preseason game against a second-team defense and he did throw a couple of inaccurate passes, but it looks obvious the Texans were lucky to get Watson with the 12th pick in the draft. Look for the impressive rookie quarterback to get some time with the first-team offense in the next couple of preseason games.
