Join now >The Houston Chronicle reports Fuller will miss 2-3 months after breaking his collarbone in practice today.
Fuller will undergo surgery and hopefully be back by the beginning of October for the Texans, as they will need him in a competitive AFC. The deep threat being off the field will open up more playing time for Braxton Miller and Jaelen Strong, but neither is expected to be a reliable fantasy contributor across from DeAndre Hopkins. As for Hopkins, this probably won’t affect him too much, because while he might see more attention from opposing defenses, he could also run more deep routes during Fuller’s absence. Fuller isn’t worth taking up an IR spot on your bench for a month.

Trevor Siemian will start the Broncos’ first preseason game on Thursday night.
Head coach Vance Joseph just made the announcement, adding that Paxton Lynch will start the second game as they rotate like they have been throughout camp. Siemian is the incumbent starter and is seen as having a steady hand that can lead the offense, but Lynch is seen as having more upside. The quarterback battle isn’t over yet, but this might indicate Siemian is currently in the lead for the starting job. This situation is one to watch on Thursday night, as Siemian will look to distance himself from Lynch.

Cam Newton is throwing lightly at Panthers practice.
Bill Voth posted a video showing Newton throwing from probably around 15 yards passes. This should be seen as a good sign, but Newton shouldn’t rush back after experiencing soreness in his surgically-repaired shoulder. It’d be a surprise if he played in the Panthers’ first preseason game on Wednesday.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been a “frequent target” of the quarterbacks in training camp.
Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com says ASJ, who is down 33 pounds, looks like he gives the Jets “a bona fide receiving threat at tight end for the first time in years.” After dealing with a drinking problem and now getting sober, Seferian-Jenkins is looking like a lot better player. Because the Jets have many young players at wide receiver around ASJ, he could emerge as a reliable target for whoever the Jets’ starting quarterback is. Both Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg would likely look Seferian-Jenkins was a decent amount. ASJ has some sleeper potential at the end of fantasy drafts.

Vikings head coach Pat Shurmur thinks Dalvin Cook can be “great” at pass protection.
Talking of his rookie running back, Shurmur said “I don’t see any elements of running back play that he can’t be great at and pass protection is one of them.” When the team first reported to training camp, head coach Mike Zimmer said pass protection is “always the number one thing” for young running backs, so it’s good to hear they think Cook can be great at it. If Cook does hold up in pass protection, he could immediately be the lead back for the Vikings and get a lot of touches. Though Shurmur did also say “We feel like we’ve got a lot of guys in that running back room that deserve carries.” So Latavius Murray (who has yet to hit the field as he’s still getting to 100% after offseason ankle surgery) and Jerrick McKinnon will all have roles too—with the hammer Murray potentially taking a goal line role, which could limit Cook’s upside.

Jarvis Landry is under investigation.
According to Slater Scoops, the Dolphins receiver is being investigated for battery in a situation involving his girlfriend. This rumor started to emerge over the weekend, but it was impossible to verify. Head coach Adam Gase did confirm they are aware of the situation, though, basically confirming the situation. Obviously a lot is unknown, but this isn’t great news for the fourth-year receiver. The NFL will could do an investigation of their own, and he could be facing discipline from the league at some point (but maybe not this season, if at all).

Jay Cutler and the Dolphins agree to a one-year deal, according to Adam Schefter.
All reports were headed this way, and Schefter says the two sides are finalizing the deal for $10 million, plus incentives. This all but confirms Ryan Tannehill will get surgery and be out for the season, while Jay Cutler re-unites with his offensive coordinator in 2015 with the Bears, Adam Gase. This is arguably the best supporting cast Cutler has ever had, and he’ll be determined to show he can still win some games. This should be considered an upgrade over Matt Moore for the skill position players in the Dolphins offense; and Cutler, with DeVante Parker, Jarvis Landry, Kenny Stills, Julius Thomas, and company, along with a strong run-game led by Jay Ajayi, could deliver low-end QB1 value this season—he’s been a successful quarterback in the NFL and is a lot better than the media gives him credit for.
