Join now >Bill O’Brien: Deshaun Watson “won’t make the same mistake twice.”
The Texans had coach said this of his rookie quarterback on SiriusXM NFL Radio. O’Brien said Watson “makes mistakes, but he fixes them.” This just further confirms how impressive the young quarterback out of Clemson has been to the Texans so far, and he clearly studies his mistakes and learns from them. O’Brien is probably thrilled with this quality from Watson, and he and the rest of the coaching staff must be thrilled to have gotten him with the 12th pick in the draft. If the rookie ends up starting over Tom Savage, he’s someone worth rostering.

Rookie guard Forrest Lamp has been diagnosed with a torn ACL, according to Adam Schefter.
The Chargers really can’t catch a break. First-round pick Mike Williams (back) is looking shaky for at least the start of the season, and now their second-round pick and projected starter at right guard is done for the year. Lamp’s loss will affect the whole offense, but Melvin Gordon will feel the impact more than anyone. Los Angeles looked to have a strong offensive line heading into 2017—something Gordon didn’t have in his first two seasons—and this injury is a blow to the unit. We still like Gordon as a clear first-round pick in fantasy drafts, but this could be cause to move him down a spot or two if you have other players close to him.

Giants head coach Ben McAdoo says Sterling Shepard rolled his ankle.
He called it a “basketball-type injury.” This is great news, as it looked like this could have been a serious injury to the second-year receiver. He’s still getting tests to determine the exact severity of the injury, but it looks like the Giants are not in danger of losing their receiver for more than a few weeks, if that.

Redskins running back Mack Brown dropped six percent body fat.
The second-year back said he worked out with Falcons running back Tevin Coleman and Bills running back LeSean McCoy this offseason, which helped him get ready for camp. Working with Coleman and McCoy, two of the most explosive backs in the NFL, helped Brown himself become more explosive and faster; and he also made changes to his diet to help improve his body. Rob Kelley and Samaje Perine have been talked about most as the early-down backs for Washington, but Brown has reportedly had a good camp and can’t be counted out.

Bill O’Brien says Braxton Miller “has really improved.”
O’Brien was on SiriusXM NFL Radio and said he is “happy” where Miller is at and called him a “dynamic guy.” Miller is entering his second season after being drafted in the third round last year; and remember: this is his third year playing the receiver position, as he converted from quarterback before his final season at Ohio State. With fellow second-year receiver Will Fuller missing 2-3 months with a broken collarbone, the team might rely on Miller to pick up some of the slack. He has pretty good upside in PPR leagues as the team’s slot receiver.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said James Conner has a sprained AC joint.
Tomlin said it “appears to be minor – days,” but the Steelers are already without Le’Veon Bell as he holds out of training camp. Conner will be fine, but the team could hold him out of the first preseason game next week just to be safe. There is no reason to expect Bell won’t be back for the regular season, but Conner will be an elite handcuff in 2017.

Texans receiver Will Fuller broke his collarbone, according to Adam Schefter.
The second-year receiver is out indefinitely. Clavicle injuries usually vary depending on the severity, but the estimated timeline is probably about 4-6 weeks or more. This obviously puts Fuller in jeopardy for the start of the regular season, which is bad news for the Texans. Houston might rely on DeAndre Hopkins even more if Fuller is out for the start of the year. The team might also look into bringing in another receiver via a trade or the waiver wire later in the preseason. This is unfortunate news for Fuller, who’s looking to grow and take the next step in his second season but will now miss valuable time in the preseason.
