Join now >Free agent running back Stevan Ridley its signing with the Broncos, according to Ian Rapoport.
Second-year running back Devontae Booker sustained a wrist injury that will keep him out for most, if not all, of the preseason, so the team brought in Ridley. Unfortunately, Ridley hasn’t been able to stick with a team since tearing both his ACL and MCL during the 2014 season with the Patriots, spending time with the Jets, Lions, Colts, and Falcons over the last two seasons. The former 1,200-yard, 12-touchdown back faces an uphill battle, but he will look to show what he can do to make the Denver roster.

Adam Gase confirms that he’s had contact with Jay Cutler.
Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported as much yesterday, and this confirms it. Gase was Cutler’s offensive coordinator with the Bears in 2015, and if Ryan Tannehill is done for the season, it seems more and more likely that Cutler will come out of retirement to join the Dolphins. Miami is ready to win now, and Gase knows the retired gunslinger is the best quarterback on the market. We like Cutler way better than most, as the reputation given to him by the media and NFL fans in general has been unfair.

Ryan Switzer left practice today with a hamstring injury, according to Jane Slater.
Slater reports Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett isn’t sure how severe the injury is. The rookie receiver is expected to be the primary returner (at least on punt returns) since the team parted ways with Lucky Whitehead. Hopefully Switzer doesn’t miss too much time with the injury.

The Jaguars signed running back Tyler Gaffney.
There was an open roster spot when left tackle Branden Albert retired, so the team brought in the former Panther and Patriot running back. Gaffney, who hasn’t played in the regular season, has had trouble staying healthy through his three seasons in the league and spent much of last season on the Patriots practice squad. The Jaguars have a deep running back group, but he’ll try to put on a good display throughout the preseason.

Dan Vitale left the field on a cart, according to Tony Grossi.
Per Grossi, the fullback was accompanied by a trainer. It’s unclear what the extent of the injury is, but not being able to walk off under his own power isn’t a positive sign. Vitale was expected to lead the way for Isaiah Crowell behind a strong offensive line, so hopefully the cart was just a precaution and he can get back on the field soon.

Chad Johnson believes Lions rookie receiver Kenny Golladay is going to be “special.”
“Ochocinco” visited Lions training camp yesterday and came away impressed with the rookie out of Northern Illinois. Johnson sent out a couple of tweets saying Golladay has the “it” factor and “I’m not a scout but I know my s—, Golladay is gone be special.” Though Johnson says he’s not a scout, he was a three-time All-Pro wide receiver and obviously knows what he’s talking about. Golladay is looking to emerge as the number three behind Golden Tate and Marvin Jones this season, but he has a lot of upside in dynasty leagues.

Sam Bradford says he thinks Laquon Treadwell has “come a long way” from last year.
Treadwell has worked with the first-team throughout all of training camp and looks locked in as the number three receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. His quarterback Bradford talked about Treadwell’s strong hands, physicality, and ability to go up and get the ball as a big target and said, “it’s nice to have a guy like that to put in the back side and know you can throw it into some tight windows, and know he can come down with it.” Treadwell is looking to become a reliable target for Bradford, who has the ability to put the ball right on his receivers with great accuracy. The 2016 first-rounder is currently going undrafted in fantasy drafts.
