Join now >Adam Schefter reports Kirk Cousins is "open" to signing a long-term deal with the Redskins after the season.
Cousins reportedly will not be getting a long-term deal before tomorrow's 4:00 PM ET deadline, so he has to play out the season on the franchise tag. His situation is already one of the most intriguing storylines for next offseason. The Redskins can tag Cousins again for 2018, but it'll cost them about $34 million. The 49ers—led by head coach Kyle Shanahan, who loves Cousins—will almost certainly be trying to sign him if he becomes an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Redskins and Cousins agreeing to a deal after this season will likely come down to the team's success in 2017.

The Chargers are expecting a timetable on Mike Williams (back) this weekend.
Chargers GM Tom Telesco says his rookie receiver has “been responding well” to the second epidural shot he had in his back for his disc issues. Telesco said “he’ll see our doctors this weekend and will get more of a timetable of where he is.” Hopefully Williams and the team receive good news, as it’d be a tough blow for him to miss most or all of his rookie season.

Rob Kelley hopes to incorporate parts of Le’Veon Bell’s and Devonta Freeman’s game into his.
The second-year Redskins running back says he’s been watching film on Bell, Freeman, and David Johnson, according to ESPN’s John Keim. Kelley says he needs to get more patient after he cost himself by being impatient at times as a rookie last season. Not many people can do what Le’Veon Bell does behind the line of scrimmage, but Kelley realizes he won’t be able to do that and instead wants to find his own “niche.” Adding a little more patience like Bell, while keeping in mind decisive, aggressive running like Devonta Freeman, it should help Kelley become a better runner overall. He’s opening training camp as the starter, but rookie Samaje Perine could be a big factor in the running game. Head coach Jay Gruden has indicated he they could both get a lot of carries.

David Johnson talks about getting 30 touches per game.
The Cardinals running back talked to SiriusXM NFL Fantasy Sports Radio and again made it clear he can handle a big workload. Johnson says he can "definitely" handle 30 touches per game, noting that they don't all have to be runs. This is just more verification that Johnson should be in for a huge workload this season. If he's not the number one overall pick in 2017 fantasy drafts, he's at least in the top three.

The Cardinals are signing free agent quarterback Blaine Gabbert, according to Adam Schefter.
A former top ten pick with great size and athleticism, Gabbert landed in a great spot with Bruce Arians and the Cardinals. If he shows well in practice for Arizona, it's not out of the question for Gabbert to be the heir apparent when Carson Palmer retires if they don't find any other options. Gabbert is still only 27-years-old. It wouldn't be the first time someone broke out in the right situation.

Texans rookie running back D'Onta Foreman was arrested this morning.
According to HookEm.com, the former Texas Longhorn was charged with marijuana possession and unlawful carrying of a fire arm. Six others were also cited for marijuana possession. This is not a good start to Foreman's NFL career, and it's not something Texans head coach Bill O'Brien is going to tolerate. Foreman needs to be smarter. This could lead to a suspension for the rookie back.
