Mohamed Sanu | Free Agent WR

Mohamed Sanu (ankle) has been taken off the PUP.

Sanu passed his physical, and it was a very short stay on the PUP list for him. The veteran receiver will look to gain chemistry with the new starting quarterback for New England throughout training camp.

Justin Jefferson | Vikings WR

The Vikings activated Justin Jefferson from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Minnesota’s first-round pick is ready to roll and should be a significant piece in Gary Kubiak’s offense as a projected starter alongside Adam Thielen.

Matthew Stafford | Rams QB

Matthew Stafford was taken off reserve/COVID-19.

The Lions put out a statement making it clear that Stafford did not actually have the virus and was instead given a false-positive test result surrounded by multiple negative tests. The false-positives have been a problem in testing, and it’s something to watch with players set to get tested for COVID-19 often this season.

Allen Hurns | Free Agent WR

Allen Hurns is opting out of the 2020 season.

Hurns says this was not an easy decision but that he’s decided to opt out with a baby boy on the way. The University of Miami product was looking to have a nice role for the Dolphins this season, but his contract will now roll over into 2021.

Alex Smith | Retired QB

Ron Rivera says Alex Smith can be in Washington’s quarterback competition.

Rivera is speaking to reporters this morning, and he says “I can envision” Smith being a part of the quarterback competition during training camp. Rivera says that Smith has “looked very fluid, he really has”, but added that the veteran quarterback needs to be able to prove he can protect himself coming off a very serious leg injury. Washington’s new head coach also said there is not a deadline for when Smith must be fully cleared to enter the quarterback competition during camp. On field training won’t ramp up for a couple of weeks, and we’d think Smith will have a legit shot to be Washington’s Week 1 starter if he can get full clearance by then. Regardless, it’s a great story, and it sounds like Washington will have a wide-open quarterback competition this summer whether it’s between just Dwayne Haskins and Kyle Allen or with Smith also in the mix.

Gardner Minshew II | Chiefs QB

Gardner Minshew has been activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Minshew will be good to go for camp, which obviously helps his 2020 outlook as he learns a new system under offensive coordinator Jay Gruden. The second-year quarterback is currently being drafted as a low-end QB2 option on a team that is looking to surprise in the AFC South.

Moritz Boehringer | Free Agent TE

The Bengals waived Moritz Boehringer.

Boehringer has been with the Bengals over the past two years as part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program, but Cincinnati is parting ways for now in a COVID-impacted summer.
