Paxton Lynch leaves Sunday night’s preseason game after hit to the head.

Lynch slid late on a scramble and ended up getting crushed by cornerback Hilton Hill, which led to a personal foul penalty and ejection with a few minutes remaining in the game. Fortunately, Lynch was able to walk off under his own power. J.T. Barrett is replacing Lynch to close things out.

Jalen Ramsey is expected to shadow Tyreek Hill in Week 1.

This isn’t a huge story, but it should be entertaining for the All-Pro cornerback to follow the All-Pro offensive playmaker around in the first week of the season. Facing Ramsey will likely limit Hill’s upside a bit to open the year, but Hill obviously isn’t a player that should be benched if you have him on your fantasy team.

Damion Willis has earned a starting receiver job for the Bengals.

Willis is an undrafted rookie out of Troy that put together an excellent summer and will start in place of the injured A.J. Green to open the year for Cincinnati. Willis is a former Last Chance U star that was named first-team All-Sun Belt as as senior, and he has red-zone upside at six-foot-three. The rookie has an opportunity to potentially provide some early-season fantasy value, but he’s not a highly recommended player to draft.

The Eagles waived Cody Kessler.

We think Kessler can be an excellent backup, but this was kind of expected after the Eagles signed veteran quarterback Josh McCown. It’ll be McCown backing up Carson Wentz to open the season, and Philadelphia will have a decision to make when Nate Sudfeld (wrist) returns. Kessler should get signed by another team very quickly if he’s not claimed on waivers.

Antonio Brown is away from the Raiders because of his helmet issue.

This story remains crazy. We thought this helmet issue was in the past after Brown said he accepted the arbitrator’s decision on him not being able to use his old helmet (despite him looking for a usable version of the helmet), but apparently it is still a big issue. The Raiders have to be getting very frustrated at this point, and general manager Mike Mayock said that the team has “pretty much exhausted all avenues of relief,” adding that it’s time for Brown to be “all in or all out.” To this point in his Raiders’ tenure, Brown has clearly been more of a distraction than someone that’s helped the team.

Jerick McKinnon (knee) had another setback.

General manager John Lynch said that “yesterday was not encouraging” for McKinnon, so this is yet another setback for the talented running back as he looks to recover from last summer’s torn ACL. The 49ers were expected to be a three-man committee between Tevin Coleman, Matt Breida, and McKinnon this season, but that’s looking more and more unlikely. Another trip to injured reserve wouldn’t be a surprise, but we are hoping McKinnon can somehow climb over the hill and get back on the field soon. Both Coleman and Breida are values at their respective ADPs, and Raheem Mostert should also be on the fantasy radar.

Josh Gordon is off the non-football injury list.

Gordon practiced today for the Pats, so this should mean he will get enough reps over the next couple of weeks to be good for Week 1. There will always be risk in selecting Gordon, but he’s a high-upside WR2/FLEX option.
