WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

The Dolphins have waived quarterback Bryce Petty.

Petty was on injured reserve, but he's presumably healthy enough to play and wants an opportunity to sign with another team. The former Baylor star will draw interest around the league.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

The Dolphins have claimed Bryce Petty off waivers, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

The former New York Jet heads to a division rival, as Miami adds another arm to their quarterback room. Petty started against the Dolphins a couple of seasons ago, going 20/36 for 235 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Dolphins head coach Adam Gase and company probably like that Petty operated a high-octane offense during his college career at Baylor. The big-armed quarterback will look to carve out a role on the final roster for the Dolphins.

The Jets have cut quarterback Bryce Petty, according to multiple reports.

The move was first reported by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. This comes days after the Jets were reportedly attempting to trade Petty, so apparently no teams were willing to part with a pick in next year's draft to acquire the third-year quarterback. The former Baylor star hasn't played great during his first two NFL seasons, throwing four touchdowns compared to ten interceptions, but he does have a good arm and good size. He probably won't have much trouble finding a new team.

Bryce Petty and Jets lose to the Patriots in Week 17.

Petty was 19/36 for 232 yards in the season finale. It's unlikely Petty enters 2018 as the starter for the Jets, so he's not a recommended dynasty-league hold heading into the offseason.

Bryce Petty struggles against the Chargers.

Los Angeles has a very strong defense, and they did a nice job against the Jets all day. Petty was 15/28 for 119 yards and one interception in the Week 16 loss, and he also added three carries for 33 yards. Next week could be the last start Petty makes for the Jets if they decide to revamp the quarterback group next season.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty throws two interceptions in 31-19 loss to New Orleans.

Petty was 19/39 for 179 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He also rushed twice for 16 yards. The 26-year-old struggled to move the ball for the most part against the Saints, but New York was able to keep it close by forcing three turnovers. His lone touchdown was a two-yarder to running back Elijah McGuire. Petty should get another start in Week 16 against the Chargers, but he's not a fantasy option for the fantasy championship.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty struggles in relief of injured Josh McCown in shutout loss.

Petty was 2/9 for just 14 yards. He also rushed once for seven yards. The third-year quarterback should get the start next Sunday against the Saints, but he needs to stay far away from fantasy lineups with playoffs on the line. Petty is a significant downgrade for Robby Anderson and the entire offense.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty was 15/24 for 160 yards and one interception in Saturday night's preseason loss.

Petty is a clear third on the depth chart for the Jets, but he could wind up making starts in 2017. The 26-year-old can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty doesn't get much time in Jets' preseason opener.

Petty entered the game after Josh McCown and Christian Hackenberg and was 2/6 for 16 yards, along with two carries for eight yards. The third-year quarterback made starts during the regular season last year, and Hackenberg will be first up to make starts if the Jets decide to bench the starter McCown for whatever reason during the season.

Bryce Petty (shoulder) has been placed on IR by the Jets.

Petty ends his second season with a 56.4% completion percentage, 809 yards, three touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He might have to compete for a roster spot, but with Ryan Fitzpatrick certainly—and Geno Smith likely—gone from the Jets, Petty could find himself competing for the starting job. It's anyone's guess what the Jets plan is at quarterback in 2017.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty exits early in Christmas Eve loss.

Petty injured his shoulder and was replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick. He was 0/3 with an interception before leaving, and was sacked twice. The Patriots ended up winning 41-3.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty gets knocked out of game by a big hit against the Dolphins; Jets drop to 4-10.

Petty was 20/36 for 235 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions on Saturday night. He threw a nice deep ball to Robby Anderson for his touchdown, but also threw a couple interceptions including a bad one to Cameron Wake who dropped in zone coverage on the play. Petty can definitely throw the ball and seemed to have command at the line of scrimmage, so it'll be interesting to watch him the last two games. He did take a huge hit from Suh and Wake late in the game and had to get x-rays, but he should be good to go on Christmas Eve against the Patriots.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty starts slow, but finishes Sunday’s game with 257 yards on 23 of 35 passing, with one interception, and his first come-from-behind victory.

He also had 19 yards on four carries. Petty threw a pick on his first pass, and held on to the ball too long at times, taking 6 sacks. But he recovered with an efficient, error-free second half as the Jets came from down 17-3 to beat San Francisco in overtime. Petty is way off the fantasy radar.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty gets inserted into the game for Ryan Fitzpatrick; will remain Jets' starter.

After a bad start by Ryan Fitzpatrick, Petty got in the game and went 11/25 for 135 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Petty had a deep touchdown to Robby Anderson on their third try at hitting a deep ball. Petty also had Anderson open on two deep balls before that, but overthrew them both. Petty has a strong arm and good release, but he just might not be good enough to be the Jets' franchise quarterback. He'll get the last few games to progress.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty throws touchdown in first career start.

Petty was 19/32 for 163 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Jets' Week 10 loss to the Rams. With the Jets at 3-7, Petty should get at least a few more starts this season (Christian Hackenberg also could). He's not a fantasy option.

Bryce Petty | Free Agent QB

Bryce Petty will take over as the Jets' starter today against the Rams.

The Jets' run with Ryan Fitzpatrick has obviously come to an end. At 3-6, the Jets are now going to have the opportunity to see what they have in last year's fourth-round pick, Petty. This would be a downgrade for Jets skill position players, but it's hard to imagine Petty being much worse than Fitzpatrick was at times this season. It will be interesting to watch how Petty performs, but he's not a fantasy option and will not be this season.
