The Dolphins waived Michael Roberts.
Roberts is being waived with a non-football injury. The big tight end has struggled with health over the past couple of years, and he did not appear in any games last season.
The Dolphins are signing Michael Roberts, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Roberts missed all of last season with a shoulder injury, but he lands with a rising Miami squad and will look to contribute as both a receiver—particularly in the red zone—and run blocker. Roberts is not likely to make a huge fantasy impact with Mike Gesicki locked in as the starting tight end for the Dolphins.
The Packers waived Michael Roberts with a failed physical.
Roberts also failed a physical with the Patriots last week, so it obviously appears his shoulder isn't where teams need it to be to give him the OK to play. Hopefully the third-year tight end can get right and find a team by the start of training camp in several weeks.
The Packers claimed Michael Roberts.
After the trade to New England was rescinded, Roberts was put on waivers by the Lions. In Green Bay, Roberts might be able to give some intel on an NFC North rival at the very least, and he'll compete for a roster spot this summer. Right now, Roberts is far off the redraft radar with Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, and third-round rookie tight end Jace Stenberger all on the Packers roster.
Michael Roberts reverts back to Lions roster, gets waived.
The Lions said Roberts reverted back to their roster per trade conditions, and we’re assuming it’s a failed physical from his shoulder injury suffered last season. It makes sense for the Lions to simply waive Roberts, as it would’ve been awkward to keep him after just trading him away. Roberts will certainly draw interest from other teams, and it won’t be surprising if he’s claimed off waivers. The Patriots will likely look elsewhere for more tight end help ahead of the season.
The Lions are trading Michael Roberts to the Patriots, according to multiple reports.
A fourth-round pick out of Toledo in 2017, Roberts is six-foot-five and over 260 pounds with good athleticism. After 46 yards on four receptions as a rookie, Roberts had 100 yards and three touchdowns on just nine receptions last season, but he dealt with a shoulder injury, played eight games, and was placed on injured reserve in December. Detroit signed Jesse James in free agency and drafted Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson eighth overall in this year's draft, so Roberts was set to be buried on the depth chart. With the Patriots, he'll have a chance to compete for the starting tight end role, especially with Benjamin Watson suspended the first four games of the season. Roberts is now a very intriguing players in dynasty leagues in particular, and the tight end situation for New England will be a key fantasy storyline this summer.
The Lions placed Michael Roberts (shoulder) on injured reserve.
Roberts had an injury-riddled season, and he's now being placed on injured reserve to end it. The second-year tight end had nine receptions for 100 yards and three touchdowns in eight games, flashing potential while still showing signs of inconsistency. The big six-foot-five 2017 fourth-round pick will look to have a breakout season in 2019, but he might go undrafted in most fantasy drafts next summer.
Michael Roberts held without a catch in win over the Cardinals.
Roberts was targeted twice but didn't come up with either of his looks. The 24-year-old isn't worth considering with just 13 career receptions.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) is officially inactive against the Rams.
Roberts was listed as doubtful coming into today, so this was expected. Kenny Golladay is likely to get a bunch of targets on all areas of the field versus LA.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 13.
Roberts' shoulder has been giving him issues, and it surprisingly looks like he won't play after he played on Thanksgiving last week and didn't appear to suffer any setbacks. Expect Roberts to be ruled out on Sunday.
Michael Roberts catches three passes in Lions' loss.
Roberts gained 16 yards on his three receptions against the Bears. With under two minutes remaining, Roberts stopped his corner route (and also might have been interfered with) on a Matthew Stafford interception, and his quarterback was rightfully unhappy with him not finishing the route. Roberts has potential, but he's not a recommended fantasy option in redraft leagues right now.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) is active against the Bears.
Roberts is back in the lineup after missing last Sunday with his shoulder injury. He could get more targets with Marvin Jones and Kerryon Johnson out with knee injuries, but Roberts isn't a highly-recommended fantasy option against a tough Chicago defense.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) is listed as questionable for tomorrow.
Roberts was able to get on the practice field on a limited basis in a short week, so he should be at least a game-time call tomorrow. If he does play, it'll be difficult to trust him against a stingy Bears defense, though.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Roberts wasn't able to practice this week, and it's a disappointment considering the matchup against Carolina's 32nd-ranked defense against opposing tight ends. Luke Willson will have a chance to make an impact with Marvin Jones (knee) ruled out and Golden Tate in Philadelphia, but he's just a streaming option in deeper leagues with 75 scoreless yards this season.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) officially did not practice today.
The severity of Roberts' shoulder injury remains unclear, but his Week 11 status isn't looking great after missing the last two days of practice. The second-year tight end might need at least a limited practice tomorrow to avoid being ruled out when the final injury report is released ahead of the weekend.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) did not practice today.
The extent of Roberts' shoulder injury is unclear, but he looks questionable at best for Sunday against the Panthers. It's a great matchup if Roberts can get on the field, but we'll track his practice status throughout the week.
Michael Roberts (shoulder) will not return against the Bears.
It's the end of the game with a Detroit comeback looking very unlikely, so this isn't a surprise. Hopefully Roberts' injury doesn't keep him out longer than the rest of today. Before leaving, Roberts caught one pass for nine yards.
Michael Roberts catches one pass against Minnesota.
Roberts gained 12 yards on his lone reception in the Lions' Week 9 loss. The second-year tight end has upside, but he's not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.
Michael Roberts scores twice in Lions' win.
Roberts got open for a couple of corner routes for touchdowns against the Dolphins, including a 15-yard score on the opening drive of the game for Detroit. Overall, Roberts caught three passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Perhaps the performance will be a springboard for the second-year tight end, but he's not a recommended fantasy option yet.
Michael Roberts scores first career touchdown in loss to the 49ers.
Roberts caught a 15-yard score in the fourth quarter to bring Detroit within one possession, but they ended up losing 30-27 against San Francisco. The second-year tight end has just five career catches, so he's not on the fantasy radar.
Michael Roberts brings in 23-yard reception in loss to the Ravens.
It was the rookie's only reception of the game and his second of the season. Roberts nearly found the end zone by extending after the nice grab, but he shouldn't be considered heading into the fantasy playoffs.
The Lions select Toledo TE Michael Roberts with the 127th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Roberts has great size for the NFL, and is someone NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah has compared to Bubba Franks. Eric Ebron has been a disappointment for Detroit, so Roberts could eventually be his replacement if the Lions move on. Roberts, like most tight ends, probably won't make a year-one impact.
