WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Mike Thomas | Bengals WR

The Bengals are re-signing Mike Thomas.

Thomas caught just five passes in the regular season last year, but he did have a reception in the Super Bowl and will continue to be depth behind Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd in 2022. Look for the biggest impact to come on special teams for Thomas.

Mike Thomas catches 50-yard pass in Week 17 loss.

Thomas ended up leading the team in receiving with three receptions for 75 yards. The 23-year-old caught just five passes for 93 yards in the regular season, so he probably won't be an offensive factor in January.

Mike Thomas blocked a punt in Week 14.

Thomas had a huge play on a blocked punt for the Rams that was taken for a touchdown, and he added a six-yard reception on offense. Thomas' offensive role isn't big enough to be a fantasy option, but it's good to see him contribute.

Rams WR Mike Thomas passed his physical and has been taken off the PUP.

Last year's sixth-round receiver still has to serve a four-game suspension to start the regular season, but he's expected to make the team. Thomas isn't worth a pick in fantasy drafts, considering he will be out the first four games of the year.

Rams receiver Mike Thomas is starting training camp on the PUP list.

Thomas is already suspended for the first four games of the season and now he isn't ready for the start of camp. It's unclear what type of injury Thomas is dealing with, but hopefully it's not serious and he can be taken off the PUP soon.

Rams receiver Mike Thomas is suspended four games for violating the NFL policy on performance enhancing substances.

A sixth round pick in 2016, Thomas was making a solid first impression on the new coaching staff until this news. Obviously, this hurts the second year receiver's chances of having a big role in 2017. Thomas will be able to practice with the team during training camp and play in preseason games, but then will be away from the team for the first four games of the regular season. It's possible Thomas doesn't make the team with this suspension hanging over him if other players step up and force the Rams to make tough decisions in the receiving group.

The Rams have liked what they've seen from second-year receiver Mike Thomas.

Head coach Sean McVay says Thomas "has been a joy to be around so far" and that he's someone that can stretch the defense. The former Southern Miss receiver  is feeling more confident and has adapted in his second season, saying he now knows what to expect and how to do things. The Rams made an effort to add receivers this offseason, but Thomas has a chance to carve out a role in his second season.
