WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Trey Quinn | Free Agent WR

Multiple reports: Washington is releasing Trey Quinn.

This is a bit of a surprise, but the new regime probably simply feels Quinn isn't a great fit on offense. Quinn, the 2018 "Mr. Irrelevant" as the final pick of that year's draft, shouldn't have much trouble finding a new team as a capable slot receiver. Perhaps Jacksonville and former Washington head coach Jay Gruden (now the Jags offensive coordinator) will be interested.

The Redskins placed Trey Quinn on injured reserve.

Quinn has been dealing with a concussion, and Washington has decided to place him on IR with just two games remaining in the season. Quinn's year ends with 26 receptions for 198 yards and one touchdown in 12 games. The 2018 seventh-round pick will likely need to battle for a roster spot under a new coaching staff next year.

Trey Quinn (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 14.

Steven Sims will help fill the void left by Quinn's absence. Hopefully the second-year receiver is feeling better soon.

Trey Quinn (concussion) has been ruled out for the Redskins.

Quinn did not catch any passes before leaving today's game. Hopefully the SMU product is feeling better soon.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden says Trey Quinn "has the inside spot pretty much locked down."

The Redskins have been high on Quinn since drafting him with the final pick of the 2018 draft, but his rookie year was essentially wiped by an ankle injury that limited him to three games. However, heading into 2019, Quinn looks set to play the most consistent role among Washington's receivers. Quinn holds the high school record for receiving yards, and he was also highly-productive at SMU, so he's a player that has a sneaky chance to push for 100 receptions this season. Teammate Josh Doctson offers the most upside, but Quinn is our pick for the best fantasy selection among Redskins receivers in drafts later this summer.

The Redskins expect Trey Quinn to take over in the slot.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that while losing Jamison Crowder to the Jets in free agency hurt, he's "ready to watch Trey Quinn jump in that slot role and dominate the position." Quinn played in just three games as a rookie last season while dealing with a high-ankle sprain, but he played well when given opportunities while Crowder was injured. The second-year receiver told Redskins.com that he guesses he did enough last year for Gruden to say he's ready for Quinn to take over as the slot receiver, but that he added, "I haven't done anything this year" and "will take this offseason pretty seriously." Quinn has a prime opportunity in front of him, and it sounds like he has the right mindset as he works at his craft leading up to next season. PPR leagues in particular should keep an eye on Quinn throughout the coming months leading up to fantasy drafts late in the summer.

Trey Quinn catches first career touchdown on Thanksgiving.

Quinn caught five passes for 26 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys. The score came in the red zone, and it was the first career score for the last pick in this year's draft. Quinn has a combined nine receptions in his last two games since getting a solid amount of playing time, but he's not yet a recommended fantasy option.

Trey Quinn catches four passes against the Texans.

Quinn gained 49 yards on his four receptions and had one carry for no yards in the Redskins' Week 11 loss. This was the first-career start for the rookie receiver, and he played well by catching all four of his targets. Quinn might be able to keep control of the starting slot role moving forward, but we'll see if Jamison Crowder (ankle) is able to get back on the field on Thanksgiving. Quinn isn't a recommended fantasy pickup yet.

Trey Quinn leaves game with apparent foot injury.

Quinn was just injured on a punt return and was in obvious pain. The rookie receiver was able to walk to the injury tent under his own power, but his afternoon is probably over.

The Redskins have selected SMU wide receiver Trey Quinn with the 256th pick (seventh round) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

This year’s “Mr. Irrelevant” is a smooth receiver that can play inside and outside, but it took him until his senior year to be a big-time contributor for the Mustangs, and there are concerns about his overall athleticism at the next level. He is unlikely to make a fantasy impact if he earns a roster spot this summer.
