Join now >Joe Mixon says he’s getting in shape to carry the football 400 times this season.
With former Rams quarterbacks coach and new Bengals head coach Zac Taylor now leading Cincinnati’s offense, Mixon says he’s been watching tape of Todd Gurley and believes he can stay in the 222-pound range (Gurley is 227 pounds). Mixon is staying in shape so that he can handle 400 carries in 2019 (not including receptions), stating: “I’m trying to be in the best shape to be able to handle that load because it’s not easy. I know I could do it. You always have to expect [400 carries]. Even if it doesn’t happen, you have to always expect it. And I always try to do whatever I can to maximize my ability. I feel like with what I can do, I should be able to do that easily.” No running back has eclipsed 400 carries since Larry Johnson broke the NFL record with 416 in 2006, and it’s unlikely Mixon hits the mark. But he’ll certainly be a workhorse like Gurley is in LA, so he should be one of the better early selections in fantasy drafts this summer. Mixon was already one of the most consistent players in fantasy last season, so he offers a great floor along with sky-high upside.

The Bills are signing Cole Beasley to a four-year, $29 million deal, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
As Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr just displayed by going back on his intentions with the Jets, these deals cannot become official until the start of the new league year tomorrow, but it looks like Beasley will join Buffalo along with fellow free-agent John Brown. This gives the Bills two experienced receivers to help lead the receiving corps along with impressive 2018 undrafted receiver Robert Foster, so they now have a balanced group of receivers with guys that can stretch the field and make plays underneath for Josh Allen. In standard-sized leagues, Beasley will likely only deliver fantasy value in PPR formats this season.

Jake Fisher is switching to tight end, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The 2015 second-round pick as the Bengals as an offensive tackle, Fisher is reportedly down to 285 pounds as he looks to switch positions. Rapoport tweets that Fisher has “been running routes with current NFL QBs in Cali this offseason. Teams are intrigued and wanting to work him out.” Fisher would obviously be more of a blocking tight end than a big-time receiving threat, so Fisher can be ignored for fantasy purposes for now. But it’s an interesting situation.

The Bills have agreed to terms with John Brown, according to Peter Schrager.
It’s a three-year, $27 million deal according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. This signing, which cannot become official until the start of new league year tomorrow at 4:00 PM ET, is an absolutely perfect fit for both sides. Allen has a rocket arm that should mesh well with the ability of “Smokey” to beat corners on deep routes down the field, and Brown played great with a similar big-armed quarterback (Joe Flacco) in Baltimore last season before Flacco’s injury. The Bills are going to add more pieces at receiver—potentially high in the draft—but Brown might be Allen’s No. 1 receiver in 2019. Because most “experts” are down on Allen’s ability as a quarterback, Brown might be just a selection in the later rounds of fantasy drafts this summer, which could be a major steal for a former 1,000-yard receiver.

The Ravens are releasing Michael Crabtree today, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This isn’t a surprise as the Ravens are again set to revamp their receiving corps this offseason, this time around new franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson. Crabtree played well last season all things considered, as his numbers took a major dip when Jackson took over for Joe Flacco at quarterback, so he’ll just finish one year of what was a three-year contract with the Ravens. The Texas Tech product is still just 31, and he is obviously a starting-caliber receiver that should draw a good amount of interest as an unrestricted free agent. Crabtree remains especially proficient in the red-zone, where he had touchdown totals of 9, 8, and 8 in his three previous seasons with Oakland before joining Baltimore last year.

The Dolphins are signing DeVante Parker to a new two-year contract, according to Tom Pelissero.
Parker seemed unlikely to remain in Miami for the final year of his rookie deal, but the new regime wants to give the No. 14 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft a chance to reach his potential under Brian Flores’ coaching staff. Still just a young 26, Parker definitely has the upside to make a fantasy impact if he can stay healthy and emerge for a Dolphins offense that is expected to trail (and in turn, throw) a ton in 2019. He will be one of the better late-round options to target in fantasy drafts over the summer.

Alex Collins faces gun and marijuana charges.
This helps explain why the Ravens released him so quickly yesterday after news broke about him being arrested for a car accident. Police say Collins’ car was crashed into a tree and found him asleep at the wheel, and they smelled marijuana and found some and a handgun. Obviously, this isn’t a good look for the former Arkansas running back, but hopefully he gets some help to avoid a situation like this happening again. Collins could be facing a suspension for this ordeal, which would make it harder for him to find another team. He’s still just 24 years old and has been a productive player in the NFL, though, so we expect he’ll get another opportunity at some point.
