This was about as bad of a start as possible for Stafford, as he got banged up and just didn’t have it tonight. Stafford was 27/46 for 286 passing yards, one passing touchdown, four interceptions, and one carry for six rushing yards against the Jets. In the first half, Stafford appeared to suffer a potentially-serious knee injury, but it looks like it was just a hyperextension; then in the second half, he missed a play after taking a big shot to the midsection from Leonard Williams. This simply wasn’t a good game for Stafford or the Lions in general, and they’ll look to bounce back in Week 2 against the Niners.

Matthew Stafford is returning to the game for the Lions.
Stafford is getting beat up a bit tonight, but it’s good to see him back in the game. The Lions are down by 21 with seven minutes to go in the third quarter, so Stafford will look to lead a comeback.

Matthew Stafford leaves game after big hit to the midsection.
Stafford was just sandwiched by a couple of defenders, including tacking a direct shot from Leonard Williams while he was trying to make a throw down the field. Trainers were checking Stafford’s chest/rib area, and he then went to the sideline under his own power. Hopefully Stafford is OK and can return to the game soon.

LeGarrette Blount leaves game with apparent leg injury.
Blount just appeared to have both knees bent awkwardly on a third-quarter carry against the Jets, and he was down on the field. Thankfully, he got up and walked to the sideline on his own, but he did go back to the locker room. Hopefully he’s OK and can return to the game soon.

John Kelly is inactive for the Rams.
Kelly wasn’t on the injury report, so this appears to be a healthy scratch for the sixth-round rookie. Malcolm Brown will back up Todd Gurley, who is expected to have a massive workload to open the year.
9/10/18 - 08:54 PM ET
Brandon Lafell is inactive for Week 1.
Lafell is trying to catch up and pick up Jon Gruden’s offense, so this isn’t a surprise. Lafell will attempt to work his way into a role on offense for Oakland, but he’s not recommended hold on fantasy benches at the moment.

Marquise Goodwin (quad) is day-to-day.
This is a great sign after Goodwin was forced out of yesterday’s game after taking a hit to the leg while running a drag route. Goodwin should be ready to go for this Sunday against the Lions, but we’ll keep an eye on his status on the practice report throughout the week.
