Join now >The Bills released Jake Fromm.
Fromm played very well this preseason, but the Bills have decided to keep just two quarterbacks and apparently couldn’t find any trade partners for the second-year quarterback. The Bills will almost certainly try to bring Fromm back on the practice squad, but other teams will have a shot at the Georgia product on waivers.

The Patriots released Brian Hoyer.
This looks like just a roster restructuring decision by the Patriots, as Hoyer is expected to be brought back as the backup quarterback behind new starter Mac Jones to open the regular season.

The Raiders released John Brown.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero says that Brown requested his release from the team, which isn’t a surprise after he played a lot of the Raiders’ final preseason game while the starters sat. Brown joined Vegas likely thinking he’d take the role occupied by Nelson Agholor last season, but the emergence of second-year receiver Bryan Edwards made that difficult. Brown is now an intriguing potential veteran addition to a receiving corps ahead of the regular season.

The Jaguars cut Devine Ozigbo.
Ozigbo was among the many cuts the Jaguars made today. For now, Ozigbo is off the redraft radar.

The Chiefs released Cornell Powell.
Powell was seen as a fifth-round steal earlier this year and then had a tremendous spring during which he drew praise from Patrick Mahomes, but he’s now been cut after a quieter summer. We would think the Chiefs definitely want to bring Powell back on the practice squad, but he’ll first be exposed to waivers.

The Chiefs waived Darwin Thompson.
Jerick McKinnon being added to the backfield mix this offseason hurt Thompson’s chances of making the active roster. Thompson will now hit waivers.

The Steelers placed Josh Dobbs on injured reserve.
This feels like one of those situations where the Steelers want to stash Dobbs, who will be out for the season if he remains on injured reserve and is not released with a settlement. Dwayne Haskins will be the No. 3 quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph for Pittsburgh this season.
