Join now >The Steelers released Jaylen Samuels.
Samuels’ versatility wasn’t enough to secure a spot on the 53-man roster this year after the team drafted Najee Harris in the first round of the draft. Expect Samuels to draw interest around the league, but he’s mostly off the fantasy radar for now.

The Eagles released Jordan Howard.
There have been a bunch of surprises today, but this might be the biggest surprise cut of deadline day (aside from the Cam Newton stunner). Howard looked like he was set to be the Eagles’ No. 2 running back behind Miles Sanders after he looked slimmer this summer and operated as the second back during much of preseason action. However, Philadelphia is parting ways with the veteran runner for now. Howard said that he thought about retirement this offseason and didn’t draw interest from other teams aside from the Eagles, but hopefully this isn’t the end of his career if he wants to continue playing.

The Ravens waived Trace McSorley.
We thought McSorley would be a lock to make the Ravens roster, but the team is going with two quarterbacks for now, and Tyler Huntley played so well during the preseason that he had to be kept on the roster. Also, McSorley dealt with injury this summer, which didn’t help. Baltimore would like to get McSorley on the practice squad, but we’d be surprised if other teams are not interested in the Penn State product.

The Jaguars cut Collin Johnson.
Jacksonville released some of the bigger depth bodies in their receiver room, keeping Jamal Agnew and Tavon Austin behind starters Marvin Jones, D.J. Chark, and Laviska Shenault. Look for the Jaguars to add another receiver at some point, or they might look to get one of the guys they cut back on the practice squad.

The Jaguars released Pharoh Cooper.
Cooper is a former All-Pro returner, so his special-teams prowess will likely help him find a new team very soon. It looks like dynamic receiver/returner Tavon Austin has won a spot on the 53-man roster for Urban Meyer.

The Jaguars released Laquon Treadwell.
Treadwell had a solid summer, but the Jaguars are going in another direction at receiver to open their 53-man roster. The former first-round pick might land back with the Jaguars practice squad as receiver depth, but there might be other teams interested in adding him to an active roster.

The Titans cut Dez Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick was just an early fourth-round pick (109th overall) in this year’s draft, so this is one is a bit of a stunner. The Louisville product will now hit waivers, and we’d say he probably won’t end up on the Tennessee practice squad if he goes unclaimed.
