Join now >Kenny Britt (hamstring) is still not a full participant in Patriots practice.
Britt was taken off the PUP list on August 4, but he’s still working his way back from the hamstring issue. Obviously, the veteran receiver is unable to gain valuable chemistry with Tom Brady and the rest of the offense while he remains out, so he’s falling behind in the pecking order for New England. Aside from Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman being squarely ahead of him, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson must be considered higher on the depth chart, too. Britt probably is not a lock to make the Pats roster.

Steve Wilks says Christian Kirk is getting better every day.
The second-round receiver is working his way into potentially taking the No. 2 receiver job for the Cardinals, as he’s been a consistent producer throughout practice and the first two preseason games. Wilks says the rookie already practices like a pro, going hard every day on every rep. Kirk had four receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown from Josh Rosen in the team’s second preseason game, and it’ll be interesting to see how much work he gets with the first team in the critical third preseason game this week. For what it’s worth, we believe Kirk should’ve been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. He could make a fantasy impact as a rookie and is one of the better targets at the end of fantasy drafts.

James Washington (abdominal) is out for the rest of today’s preseason game.
Late in the third quarter, it’s not a surprise that Washington will not return to this game. Now we have to wait to get word on the severity of the injury, but hopefully it isn’t anything too serious.

Adam Shaheen suffered a low-ankle sprain based on initial tests, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says more tests are coming so perhaps the injury can be worse than the initial tests indicate, but a low-ankle sprain would be excellent news. The second-year tight end would almost certainly be ready to go for Week 1 if it is indeed just a low ankle-sprain. More information should become available soon.

Rex Burkhead did not play in tonight’s preseason game.
Burkhead did not play in last week’s preseason game either, as he’s dealing with a minor knee issue. The Patriots are probably just being cautious with Burkhead, and his Week 1 status does not seem to be in any doubt. Burkhead should still have a sizable role on offense to open the season for New England despite not working with the starting offense this preseason.

Ed Dickson (groin) remains on the non-football injury list.
The former Panther was expected to compete for the starting tight end job in Seattle, but he has yet to hit the field this summer. Dickson is off the fantasy radar until he can at least get closer to returning to the field. Nick Vannett is currently the favorite to start at tight end for the Seahawks.
