The Patriots are releasing Kenny Britt, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Britt hasn't been able to get healthy this summer because of a hamstring issue, so the Patriots decided to just cut ties with the veteran receiver. There was some thought that Britt might have a sizable role as a big outside target for Tom Brady, but it was beginning to look very unlikely that would happen as he wasn't able to get back to 100% with the season approaching. This is probably good news for Phillip Dorsett, who could be poised for a starting role all season in New England.
Kenny Britt (hamstring) is still not a full participant in Patriots practice.
Britt was taken off the PUP list on August 4, but he's still working his way back from the hamstring issue. Obviously, the veteran receiver is unable to gain valuable chemistry with Tom Brady and the rest of the offense while he remains out, so he's falling behind in the pecking order for New England. Aside from Chris Hogan and Julian Edelman being squarely ahead of him, Phillip Dorsett and Cordarrelle Patterson must be considered higher on the depth chart, too. Britt probably is not a lock to make the Pats roster.
Kenny Britt (hamstring) is off the PUP list.
Britt hasn't immediately become a full participant in practice, as he's working his way back. New England's receiver corps is among the most crowded position groups in the NFL, so Britt might need to get back to 100% soon if he's going to carve out a solid role catching passes from Tom Brady.
Kenny Britt will begin training camp on the PUP list, according to Field Yates.
Britt injured his hamstring during last month's minicamp and it wasn't thought to be serious, so this could just be the team taking things slow with their veteran receiver. After recent reports about Malcolm Mitchell being on available for a trade, it sounds like Britt could open the season as New England's No. 2 or No. 3 receiver with Julian Edelman suspended. However, the Pats have a really deep group, so entering his age-30 season, Britt needs to get healthy and be consistent in camp.
The Patriots have picked up Kenny Britt's option, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
New England signed Britt last year after he was released by the Browns, but he didn't really get integrated into the offense, which is understandable in a complex system. However, things could be different in 2018, as Rapoport says the Patriots are "looking for big things" out of the veteran wideout next season. Britt will turn 30 in September, so he's still in his prime and has a chance to finally reach his potential with Tom Brady throwing passes to him. As a fantasy option, though, he probably won't be worth considering before the later rounds if Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, and Rob Gronkowski are all back and healthy ahead of him for targets.
Kenny Britt catches one pass in Patriots debut.
It went for seven yards, and was his only target of the game. Britt could be more of a factor against Buffalo's smaller cornerbacks next week, but he won't be a reliable fantasy option on Christmas Eve.
Kenny Britt is active for Week 15.
Despite just arriving with the team during the week, Britt is active and will make his Patriot debut. Chris Hogan is inactive while dealing with his shoulder injury, so that probably went into the decision to make Britt active. Look for him to have an immediate role in the red zone, but Britt isn't a recommended fantasy option.
Kenny Britt's deal with the Patriots is for two seasons, according to Ian Rapoport.
New England likes the former Titans, Rams, and Browns receiver enough that they gave him a two-year deal that could keep him with the team through 2018. However, the deal might be one that the Patriots can easily get out of while setting themselves up with the option to keep Britt for cheap if he becomes a key contributor they want to keep around. Don't be surprised if Britt emerges as a weapon around the goal line for Tom Brady in January.
Kenny Britt is close to signing with the Patriots, according to Field Yates.
This is simply a perfect match, as Britt gives New England another bigger-bodied receiver on the outside with Malcolm Mitchell still being out with his knee injury. The Patriots picked up Michael Floyd late last year before their Super Bowl run, and now they are doing the same with Britt. Don't expect Britt to be a big-time fantasy contributor over the final three weeks of the season, but he'll improve an already-great Patriots offense.
The Browns are releasing free-agent bust Kenny Britt, according to Adam Schefter.
New general manager John Dorsey isn't wasting any time making moves, as he's quickly gotten Kenny Britt out of the building after the veteran signed a four-year, $32.5-million deal in the offseason. Britt had just 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns in his only season with Cleveland, and he apparently wasn't a very good influence on 2016 first-round pick Corey Coleman, so this is probably a good culture-building move for the Browns. We'll see if Britt gets an opportunity someplace else this season, but he won't be a factor in the fantasy playoffs.
Kenny Britt catches two passes in Week 13.
Britt gained ten yards on his two receptions, and he's clearly not a reliable fantasy option with the addition of Josh Gordon to the lineup.
Kenny Britt catches 38-yard pass in Week 12 loss.
He finished with two receptions for 52 yards. Britt is almost certainly going to have his role scaled back when Josh Gordon returns, but hopefully he's been on the waiver wire for a while now in all leagues. The Browns will look to pickup their first win of the season over the Chargers next Sunday.
Kenny Britt gets two targets in Week 11.
Britt caught both targets versus Jacksonville, but he gained only five yards in the game. With Corey Coleman back in the mix at receiver, Britt is way off the fantasy radar at the moment.
Kenny Britt scores in Week 10 loss.
Britt caught two passes for 38 yards, including a 19-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter to put the Browns up 10-0. Unfortunately for them, they ended up losing 38-24 to remain winless. With just 12 receptions for 166 yards and two scores on the year, Britt is well off the fantasy radar, especially with a matchup against Jacksonville in Week 11.
Kenny Britt doesn’t catch a pass against Minnesota.
Britt was active for the game, but he wasn’t targeted the entire game. Despite signing a pretty big contract with Cleveland this offseason, Britt is way off the fantasy radar.
Kenny Britt held to seven yards in Week 7 loss.
He caught two passes for two and five yards. The free-agent signing might not even make it through the season for the 0-7 Browns after missing curfew with injured playmaker Corey Coleman, as his bad influence simply isn't worth the limited production, despite the big contract Cleveland gave him in the offseason. Britt shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues.
Kenny Britt (groin/knee) is active for Week 7.
Britt, who reportedly missed curfew last week before the game against the Texans, is pretty much in the dog house and can't be trusted in fantasy lineups at the moment.
Kenny Britt (knee/groin) is questionable against the Titans.
The veteran receiver was limited in practice all week, so we'll see if he can get back out there for Week 7. If he is active, Britt wouldn't be a recommended fantasy option, even against his old team that's struggling to defend the pass.
Kenny Britt (knee) is officially questionable for Week 6.
Though Kevin Hogan at quarterback should help things, Britt is extremely difficult to trust in fantasy lineups even if he is active on Sunday versus Houston.
Kenny Britt (hamstring) is officially inactive against the Jets.
Britt was doubtful for the game, and now he’s officially out. All Browns receivers are difficult to trust right now.
Kenny Britt (hamstring) is doubtful for Week 5.
Britt did not practice again today, so it'd be a major shock if Britt played in the game. This injury could lead to him falling totally out of the lineup even when he is healthy.
Kenny Britt (knee/groin) did not practice today.
We'll see what happens tomorrow, but it doesn't look the veteran receiver will be ready for this weekend against the Jets. The injury report for the game will be released tomorrow.
Kenny Britt (knee/groin) did not practice today.
Britt should be good for practice tomorrow, but we'll see. He's off the fantasy radar anyway, as he's in Hue Jackson's dog house.
Kenny Britt gets eight targets in Week 4.
Britt caught three of the targets for 52 yards in the loss to Cincinnati. Through four games, Britt is on pace for 32 receptions for 484 yards and four touchdowns, which is certainly not what the Browns expected when they signed him to a big contract. We'll see if he can start picking it up next week against the Jets.
Kenny Britt scores in loss to the Colts.
Britt had three receptions (on ten targets) for 54 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown was Britt's first as a Brown, and it was a nice catch, as he had one arm being pulled while he hauled it in with the other in the end zone. Britt also had a 38-yard reception in the game. He's in the FLEX discussion if he's going to be Cleveland's number one receiver and get a good amount of targets each game.
Kenny Britt held to one catch in loss.
It went for two yards. Britt now has two catches for 15 yards through his first two games with the Browns, and while it's early, he looks like a big-time bust after signing for $32.5 million in the offseason. Maybe it's worth keeping him around for one more week after Corey Coleman's hand injury, but dropping Britt probably wouldn't hurt you at this point.
Kenny Britt held to one catch in Browns debut.
It went for 13 yards. Britt was a big-time signing in the offseason, but Corey Coleman is the clear #1 receiver for the team, leaving little room for a soon-to-be-29-year-old Britt to make an impact on an offense led by an unpolished rookie. He should remain on the bench or on the waiver wire next week against Baltimore.
Kenny Britt caught one pass for 13 yards on Saturday night.
Britt is ranked nearly two rounds higher than teammate Corey Coleman, but we think it's clear that Coleman is the better fantasy option. Cleveland might play the veteran in the fourth preseason game to get DeShone Kizer prepared to start Week 1 of the regular season.
Britt held to one catch in Browns debut.
The veteran receiver had a chance at a touchdown early on, but Brock Osweiler didn't give him a chance to win a jump ball in the end zone. Britt's lone catch went for four yards. We'll see what he can do next time out against the Giants, where he might get a chance to play with DeShone Kizer.
Kenny Britt has officially signed with the Cleveland Browns.
Britt should have a big role in Hue Jackson's offense, likely taking the role Terrelle Pryor had last season. Second-year receiver Corey Coleman is in the mix (as well as potentially Josh Gordon), but Britt has a shot at 1,000 yards as one of the main targets for the Browns after hitting the mark for the first time last season with the Rams.
The Browns are expected to sign WR Kenny Britt, according to Adam Caplan.
Caplan reports the deal is expected to be four years, $32.5 million with $17 million guaranteed. It's a great payday for Britt and almost certainly means the end of Terrelle Pryor's time in Cleveland. There hasn't been much action on Pryor so far—at least none that has come to light.
Barstool Sports reports that people are saying that Kenny Britt is in Atlantic City telling them he's going to sign with the Eagles.
This is not confirmed and we are just passing along the report from Barstool; they do not even seem certain this is factual. It's interesting, nevertheless, as the Eagles have been the team most linked to Britt thus far.
UPDATE: Kenny Britt's agent (@fadde on Twitter) tweeted to dispel these rumors. He says Britt is visiting family.
ProFootballTalk: The Cowboys have expressed interest in Kenny Britt.
Britt would be a nice addition to the Cowboys alongside Dez Bryant. Britt should get a nice payday wherever he lands in free agency.
The Eagles will "have an eye" on Kenny Britt when free agency beings, according to Tim McManus.
Britt should get a good amount of interest on the free agent market. He's just 28, has matured from earlier in his career, and hit 1,000 yards for the first time last season. Britt is probably in the second tier of free agent wide receivers.
Kenny Britt disappoints against the Niners.
Britt had only one catch for 15 yards, despite the good matchup. The Rams only threw for 90 yards, so there wasn't much to go around for the Rams receivers. Britt did go over 1,000 yards on the year—the first Ram to do so since Torry Holt did in 2007 (!). He's not a recommendable fantasy option against the Cardinals in Week 17.
Kenny Britt catches four passes for 50 yards against the Seahawks.
He briefly left the game with an injury, but returned quickly. Britt has been the Rams only consistent receiving option this season, and will be a WR2/FLEX next week against San Francisco.
Kenny Britt leads Rams in targets in Week 14.
Britt caught seven-of-twelve targets for 82 yards. He continues to put up good numbers for the Rams, but isn't a great option against Seattle next week. He'll be just a decent FLEX.
Britt continues to be lone bright spot on Rams offense.
It took until late in the 4th quarter, but Britt caught a 66-yard touchdown in the Rams' loss to New England. He finished with two catches for 67 yards and the score. Britt's play this season has earned him FLEX consideration every week, especially next Sunday in an easy matchup with Atlanta.
Kenny Britt catches touchdown in Week 12 against the Saints.
Britt had five catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown came on a quick slant inside the ten yard-line. Britt's yardage output has slowed down the last two weeks, but he's still been a consistent, low-floor fantasy option all season. Britt will be a solid option next week against the Patriots.
Kenny Britt catches five passes in Week 11.
Britt had five catches for 43 yards. It was a good game considering the Rams had only 134 yards passing. Britt is just a FLEX option next week against the Saints.
Kenny Britt has another great afternoon.
Britt had seven catches for 109 yards against the Jets. Britt is averaging 15.3 yards per catch on the season, and is looking like he will easily surpass 1,000 yards. Britt is a solid FLEX play, including next week against Miami.
