WOLF SPORTS PROJECTION

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

The Dolphins are signing Adam Shaheen to a two-year extension.

Miami acquired Shaheen from the Bears before the season, and they have liked what they've seen from the former second-round pick. Shaheen was in a contract year, but this keeps him with the Dolphins through the 2022 season. The big tight end is more of a real-life contributor than highly recommended fantasy asset.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

The Dolphins are acquiring Adam Shaheen, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Shaheen has had trouble staying healthy since the Bears selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft, but the big tight end will get a fresh start in Miami. Shaheen will obviously be behind Mike Gesicki on the depth chart, but he might be able to carve out a strong role in scoring territory at six-foot-six.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

The Bears placed Adam Shaheen on injured reserve.

Shaheen has been dealing with a foot injury, and his season ends with nine receptions for 74 yards in eight games. The 2017 second-round pick has dealt with injuries every year of his career to this point, so hopefully he can stay healthy in 2020 and beyond for Chicago.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen caught three passes for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.

Shaheen saw an extended role with Trey Burton (groin) inactive, catching all but one of his four targets. The 2017 second-round pick will look to have a healthy offseason and establish himself as the team's clear No. 2 tight end in 2019, but he won't be a recommended fantasy option behind Burton to start the year.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen catches one pass in Bears’ win.

Shaheen gained four yards on his one reception against the Niners. The second-year tight end remains a strong real-life asset than a fantasy option behind starter Trey Burton.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen catches two passes against the Packers.

Shaheen gained 39 yards on his two receptions in the Bears' Week 15 win, including a reception of 23 yards. The second-year tight end appears to be getting more comfortable by the week, making his dynasty outlook look stronger. He doesn't need to be owned in redraft leagues, though.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen scores in Week 13.

Shaheen caught a short touchdown in the flat for his first score of the season, and overall he had two receptions for five yards and a touchdown. The receptions were Shaheen's first of the year, but he also had a two-point conversion a couple weeks ago as he works his way into the offense. The second-year tight end is not a great fantasy option yet.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen (concussion) is not traveling with the Bears to Detroit.

Shaheen is in concussion protocol, so the Bears are keeping him at home as they travel for tomorrow's Thanksgiving matchup with the Lions. Hopefully Shaheen is feeling better and is able to get back on the field in Week 13.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen (concussion) did not practice today.

Shaheen is dealing with a concussion, which probably occurred on the two-point conversion in Sunday night's win against the Vikings. Hopefully the second-year tight end is feeling better soon, but it might be a stretch to expect him to play on Thanksgiving.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

The Bears are activating Adam Shaheen off injured reserve, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Shaheen suffered a serious ankle/foot injury in the preseason, but he’s back for the Bears ahead of Sunday night’s big matchup with Minnesota. The 2017 second-round pick will be behind Trey Burton, so he’s only a recommended dynasty-league option for now.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen suffered a low-ankle sprain based on initial tests, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport says more tests are coming so perhaps the injury can be worse than the initial tests indicate, but a low-ankle sprain would be excellent news. The second-year tight end would almost certainly be ready to go for Week 1 if it is indeed just a low ankle-sprain. More information should become available soon.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen leaves preseason game with apparent lower leg injury.

Shaheen caught a pass in the flat and it appeared his right foot/ankle took a nasty turn when he was tackled. He immediately limped over to the sideline. The second-year tight end's night is probably done, but hopefully this injury isn't too serious. There should be an update on Shaheen later tonight or tomorrow.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen (chest) is out for the regular season finale.

The rookie second-rounder appeared in 13 games this season, catching 12 passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Catching a touchdown on 25% of his receptions shows the touchdown-scoring upside the big tight end has, and he'll have a bright future if the Bears offense starts to take off in 2018. As of now, it looks like Shaheen should offer upside at the end of 2018 fantasy drafts.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen (chest) is out for Week 15.

Shaheen is dealing with a chest injury that had him limited in practice all week. With the Bears out of playoff contention, it’s not surprising that the rookie tight end is inactive versus Detroit. But hopefully Shaheen is ready to go for Week 16, as he could use the playing experience heading into 2018.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen scores in Week 14.

Shaheen was targeted five times versus the Bengals, catching four passes for 44 yards and a touchdown. The score was on a corner route by the goal line where he made a nice catch in tight coverage. There's no question the rookie tight end has very good ability, but he's difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in his first NFL season.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen catches one pass in Week 12.

Shaheen saw his only target of the game early, catching a pass in the flat for one yard. The rookie tight end has a lot of upside in dynasty leagues, but he's not a standard league option right now.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen scores in Week 11 loss.

Shaheen caught four passes for 41 yards, including a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Chicago's rookie tight end isn't a reliable fantasy option, but his dynasty prospects are strong as he builds chemistry with fellow Ohio native Mitchell Trubisky.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen caught two passes for 39 yards in Sunday's loss to the Packers.

Shaheen has just three receptions for 41 yards this season. Perhaps the rookie will get more involved down the stretch, but he should stay on the waiver wire.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen catches first career touchdown in win over the Steelers.

It was a two-yard reception in the second quarter, and not only his first career score, but also his first career catch. He is a name to watch in dynasty leagues, but Shaheen belongs on the waiver wire in redraft leagues.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Rookie tight end Shaheen catches one pass in Week 2 of the preseason.

Shaheen had nine yards on his lone target of the game. The second-round rookie tight end hasn't made a huge impact yet, but he certainly has the potential. He's a much better option in dynasty leagues than re-draft leagues as of now.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

Adam Shaheen catches one pass for three yards in preseason debut.

The big rookie tight end only had one reception, but he certainly looks the part out there. Look for him to work his way into the starting lineup at some point this year.

Adam Shaheen | Dolphins TE

The Bears select big touchdown-maker, Ashland tight end Adam Shaheen, with the 45th pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Another former basketball player, Shaheen is a big 6'6", 278-pounder that set a school record with 16 touchdowns last season, along with 57 receptions for 867 yards. Playing at Ashland, he was able to dominate, so we'll see if he can grow into a productive tight end for Chicago. Shaheen is not likely to produce productive fantasy numbers in 2017 with Zach Miller and Dion Sims in the mix at tight end.
