Join now >Vance McDonald (foot) remains out of practice.
McDonald hasn’t practiced since the start of camp in late July, but there’s no indication on what exact type of foot injury he’s dealing with. The Steelers haven’t given any update on McDonald’s timeline, so it remains a waiting game. For those drafting early, keep in mind that McDonald might not be ready for Week 1.

The Cowboys are signing Darren Carrington II, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Carrington, who is an undrafted receiver from this year, was kicked out of the Oregon program before playing for Utah this past season. Carrington is a talented player, and he’ll look to crack a competitive Cowboys receiving corps—though he’s at a disadvantage coming into camp so late.

The Broncos have elevated Chad Kelly to backup quarterback.
After Paxton Lynch struggled in Saturday’s preseason game while Kelly flashed his talent and went 14/21 for 177 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, along with three carries for 38 rushing yards, Denver is giving the second-year quarterback reps with the twos. Despite being a seventh-round pick last year, Kelly is a very talented player, and he would’ve went higher in the draft if not for off-field concerns. He has a legit shot at eventually becoming the quarterback of the future for the Broncos, so he should remain on dynasty-league radars.

Saquon Barkley’s injury is a hamstring tweak, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
This is great to hear, as Barkley shouldn’t miss much time, if any, with the hamstring tweak. The Giants will likely be cautious and wait for their No. 2 overall pick to get back to 100%, though. Barkley might not play in this Friday’s preseason game versus the Lions, but he should be ready to go for the dress rehearsal game next week if not.

The 49ers are signing running back Alfred Morris.
Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan says he believes Morris “has a chance to compete and make the team.” Shanahan was the offensive coordinator for Morris during the sixth-round pick’s first two seasons in the NFL, helping guide him to seasons of 1,613 yards and 1,275 yards in Washington. San Francisco is hurting at the running back position, with Matt Breida nursing a separated shoulder (but expected back for Week 1) and Jerick McKinnon dealing with a muscle strain in his leg. McKinnon is still the clear top running back for the Niners, but it would not be a surprise if Morris, who averaged 4.8 yards per carry last season with Dallas, made an impact.

Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) might not be ready for the season opener, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Rapoport says Jeffery’s recovery from offseason shoulder surgery is “progressing according to plan,” but then says there’s a chance Jeffery remains on the PUP to start the season. The thought has been that Jeffery would miss the entire preseason but would be ready for the opener, but it’s certainly no lock—and this report indicates that. Jeffery remains someone to keep an eye on as the regular season approaches. As he remains out, Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor will continue to be the focus of the passing attack throughout camp and the preseason. Situations like this are why fantasy owner should attempt to have their fantasy drafts late if possible.

Terrelle Pryor says his ankle injury was a broken ankle.
Pryor told this to ESPN’s Rich Cimini. Earlier this offseason, Pryor called his ankle injury “minor,” so this is a bit of a surprise. He’s participating in team drills but will not play in this week’s preseason game against his former Redskins team. Pryor might not be in a starting role when he’s 100% ready to go, but playing in the team’s third preseason game would help.
