Join now >Gerald Everett (shoulder) will miss a week or so.
The Rams left for Baltimore for this week’s preseason game versus the Ravens, and Everett did not make the trip after suffering a shoulder sprain in practice. Rams head coach Sean McVay says he’ll rehab “for at least the next week or so,” which could put him in danger for the second preseason game, too. The second-year tight end is competing for a large role in LA’s offense, and hopefully he can get back on the field soon. Tyler Higbee will handle most of the first-team snaps with Everett out.

Zay Jones is now practicing.
After missing all of the offseason training and the start of training camp because of a knee procedure, the second-year receiver is back in the mix for the Bills. Jones’ first practice of 2018 came on the same day Buffalo acquired 2016 first-round receiver Corey Coleman from the Browns, so there’s now more competition in a room that has positions behind Kelvin Benjamin up for grabs. There’s still a lot to be determined, but it’s likely to be Benjamin, Coleman, and Jones (primarily in the slot) as the top three receivers for the Bills in 2018. Benjamin and Coleman are the preferred fantasy options of the group at the moment.

The Browns have traded wide receiver Corey Coleman to the Bills, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
It’s an undisclosed draft pick that Buffalo is sending to Cleveland in exchange for the 2016 first-round pick out of Baylor. Through two seasons with the Browns, Coleman caught 56 passes for 718 yards and five touchdowns in 19 games while battling multiple injuries, and now he gets a change of scenery with the Bills and could immediately step in as a starter opposite Kelvin Benjamin. Coleman has a ton of ability as a former first-round selection; he’ll look to get acclimated to the Bills offense and will have the rest of the summer to do so. It’s a big stretch to expect Coleman to suit up in this Thursday’s preseason game versus the Giants, but he should be ready to go for Weeks 2 and 3 of the preseason. For the Browns, this could mean they expect Josh Gordon to return to the team soon; but either way, troubled-but-talented fourth-round selection Antonio Callaway could have a big role as a rookie. As for Coleman’s fantasy value, it probably remains about the same—he remains a late-round flier.

Ty Montgomery says he thinks a running back by committee would be good for the Packers.
Montgomery says he heard head coach Mike McCarthy talk about a committee, so this could’ve been just him being a team guy and agreeing with his coach; but Montgomery noted that he and the other backs (including Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones) all do different things well and can make it tough on a defense when they mix in. All the talk has been that Green Bay will use a committee in 2018, and the only question appears to be who, if anyone, leads it. The preseason could determine the usual workloads, but keep in mind that Aaron Jones will miss the first two regular season games because of a suspension.

The Saints have released Brandon Coleman, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
The 2014 undrafted free agent from Rutgers has spent each of his four NFL seasons in New Orleans, catching 79 passes for 1,099 yards and eight touchdowns. After the Saints signed Cameron Meredith and drafted Tre’Quan Smith in the third round of the draft, it was going to be tough for Coleman to have a sizable role in 2018, but now he’ll have an opportunity to attempt to carve out a role with another team. Coleman is six-foot-six with solid athleticism and a big catch radius. He shouldn’t have any trouble finding a new team.

Matt Ryan thinks Austin Hooper should have a really good year.
Matty Ice says the third-year tight end has “gotten a lot better” and is “a lot more polished” this year, and Matthew Tabeek of AtlantaFalcons.com has been saying Hooper is performing well in camp and could be primed for a big season. With so many weapons on Atlanta’s offense, and Hooper unlikely to be any higher than the fifth option, a huge breakout season with big numbers is going to be difficult. But a backend TE1 option is certainly possible, and Hooper could be one of the better real-life contributors at tight end in the league this season.

Kenyan Drake and Frank Gore are listed as co-starting running backs for the Dolphins.
This is the initial depth chart which may have been put together by the team’s media staff without any input from the coaches, but it probably indicates how things are going in the backfield right now. The Dolphins are very impressed by the veteran Gore, who Adam Gase says looks no different than he did ten years ago. Rookie Kalen Ballage is also in the mix, but he might be squarely behind Drake and Gore for now. It’ll be interesting to watch how the snaps are split in preseason games.
