Join now >The Texans have claimed quarterback Stephen Morris off waivers, according to Ian Rapoport.
Morris was recently waived by Seattle, and he was released by the Redskins earlier this year. He will try to stick around in Houston, where he will have a chance to impress in Bill O’Brien’s offense while battling for a roster spot behind Deshaun Watson with Brandon Weeden and Joe Webb. Weeden looks to be the heavy favorites for number-two duties.

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase says Kenyan Drake is “really looking to bust out” this season.
Gase talked about his third-year running back’s growth on and off the field, saying that it’s been “a good process to watch” Drake mature. Last season after Jay Ajayi was traded to the Eagles, Drake got his biggest opportunity on offense and took advantage, rushing for 619 yards over the team’s final eight games of the year. He also showed his versatility during that time, catching 29 passes for 232 receiving yards. Gase also went on to talk about how Drake is a versatile weapon out of the backfield that can line up in the slot, out wide, and in the backfield, which makes it difficult on linebackers. The ageless Frank Gore and fourth-round pick Kalen Ballage being added to the backfield might have taken some of the hype away this offseason, but Drake certainly has a lot of upside in 2018.

The Panthers are releasing wide receiver Russell Shepard, according to the Charlotte Observer.
According to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, Shepard requested his release, which the team granted. It will become official later today. Shepard is a key special teams player that probably wants a bigger role at receiver, which isn’t going to happen in Carolina. Last season, Shepard caught 17 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown, and he spent his first four NFL seasons in Tampa Bay. He is likely to receive interest as a good amount of interest as a free agent.

The Dolphins plan to spread the ball around on offense this season.
Dolphins head coach Adam Gase was on SiriusXM NFL Radio and spoke about Jarvis Landry, who had a whopping 400 receptions in his four seasons with Miami, moving on. Gase said with Landry gone, “we will have to spread the ball around which is something that this offense is tailor made for. It will probably be a different guy every week for us.” The Dolphins went out and added receivers Danny Amendola and Albert Wilson in free agency, running backs Frank Gore (in free agency) and Kalen Ballage (in the draft), and tight end Mike Gesicki in the draft. With DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills among those still in the mix, they are going to spread the ball around to all their weapons, which could lead to some fantasy headaches. However, Parker still has a lot of upside as someone the team was extremely excited about heading into last season. Of the Dolphins receivers, he’s the best bet to turn into a consistent WR1 or WR2 option in 2018.

Deshaun Watson (knee) is on schedule for training camp.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien was on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, and he said his star franchise quarterback is “on schedule to participate in training camp and we’re excited about that.” Watson tore his ACL during a practice at the start of November, so it’ll be nearly nine months when Texans training camp starts. Even if Watson isn’t out there for the first day, there isn’t much concern about his recovery. Everyone should feel great about him being out there for Week 1, but seeing him participate in a full training camp would be a boost as he enters his second NFL season.

Alvin Kamara isn’t expected to get more carries during Mark Ingram’s four-game suspension.
Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke at the team’s rookie minicamp today and was asked questions about Ingram’s suspension and how it would effect the team. “The mistake would be that Alvin gets 15 more carries and that’s not the direction we would like to go,” Payton said. Saints running backs coach Joel Thomas also added that it would be a “disservice” to give Kamara more work because “he’s excelled with the ratio he’s had.” Right now, New Orleans sounds content with having other guys step up during Ingram’s absence while keeping Kamara’s role about the same as it was last season. Things could change when the games begin and the team is trying to win, but perhaps Kamara won’t be getting 15-20+ carries in Weeks 1-4. Remember, Kamara didn’t have more than 12 carries in a game during his rookie season despite putting up big numbers.

The Seahawks waived quarterback Stephen Morris, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
Morris signed with Seattle just under a month ago. The former Miami Hurricanes quarterback is looking for his sixth NFL team. The Seahawks still have Austin Davis and seventh-round pick Alex McGough behind Russell Wilson, and that might be the team’s quarterback group in 2018.
