Join now >Larry Fitzgerald indicates he’d like the Cardinals to get Kirk Cousins this offseason.
Fitz was asked who he’d like to see at quarterback for the team next season by Lance Moore on SiriusXM NFL Radio, and the future Hall of Fame receiver said “if you’re looking at the top free agent QBs, it’s gotta be Kirk Cousins,” while also adding Cousins will be a “hot commodity” in free agency. Not to look too much into this, but the acquisition of Cousins for Arizona might make Fitz more likely to come back in 2018, but everything is still very much up in the air. Perhaps he’ll make a decision to retire within the next few weeks, but we don’t expect a decision by Fitzgerald until next month when free agency begins.

The Colts placed wide receiver Rodney Adams on the Reserve/Retired List.
This a surprise, as Adams is apparently retiring after one season in the NFL. Adams was a fifth-round selection of the Vikings last year, but he did not see game action and was eventually waived and put on the practice squad for the second half of the season and the playoffs. The Colts signed him to a reserve/future contract in February, but it appears Adams is at least putting his football career on hold for the time being. Perhaps more information will come out explaining things, but we wish Adams the best of luck if he decides to move on from football.

Jon Gruden touts Amari Cooper as the “headliner” of the Raiders offense.
Gruden is back at the NFL Combine as a head coach, and he’s unsurprisingly drawing a large crowd. The Raiders head coach is making it clear he expects the former fourth overall pick to ascend into an elite receiver, and he expects him to be “the focal point” of the offense. Look for Gruden to move Cooper around formations this season, and the fourth-year receiver could be a target monster in Oakland. He has major bounce-back potential after a disappointing 2017.

Wide receiver Charles Johnson has signed with the Jets.
Last season, Johnson spent the year on injured reserve for the Panthers after a knee injury and surgery. The former Vikings receiver showed upside in 2014 when he caught 31 passes for 475 yards and two touchdowns, but his role declined in Minnesota before signing with the Panthers last offseason. Johnson now joins a crowded Jets receiving group with roster spots up for grabs. He’s not on the fantasy radar at the moment, but the Jets receiving corps will be a position to watch this summer.

Le’Veon Bell is “confident” a deal will get done with the Steelers.
Bell was on SiriusXM NFL Radio at the Super Bowl, and he said he wants to be the highest paid running back in NFL history. Adrian Peterson signed a $100 million contract back in 2011, which paid him around $14.3 million/year. It’s unclear if Bell wants just the average to be around $15 million or if he wants to have a long-term deal that could pay him into nine figures like Peterson received from the Vikings. On NFL Network, Bell indicated it’s about the guaranteed money and said he would sign for $50 million guaranteed, so it looks like it’ll come down to how many the years Pittsburgh is willing to commit guaranteed money to their star back. The good news is there still seems to be a lot more optimism than there was at this time last year, so hopefully a deal between Bell and the Steelers can get done.

The Lions re-signed wide receiver T.J. Jones.
Jones was a restricted free agent, and he remains in a good spot with Detroit. Last season, Jones stepped up for the Lions and became one of their better contributors, catching 30 passes for 399 yards and one touchdown. Considering Jones has more experience in the offense, he might have a shot at fending off talented second-year receiver Kenny Golladay for the third receiver spot behind Marvin Jones and Golden Tate this season.

Jon Gruden says he’s “counting on” Marshawn Lynch.
Everything we’ve heard from Gruden over the last few weeks indicates that the team will not be cutting Lynch, but that he will have to prove he’s committed to being the workhorse back for the offense. Gruden says “there’s no question he’s still a beast,” and he also talked about how adding another blocking tight end will help the run game. This all could be a ploy/smokescreen if they are interested in someone like Penn State’s Saquon Barkley in the draft, but the most likely scenario might be bringing Lynch into offseason training and training camp to see if he’s 100% committed and ready to give his best effort to help the Raiders—Gruden won’t settle for anything less.
